Make it up to her

“Attorney Lisa Manoban leads her opponent’s client name Chou Tzuyu to attempt suicide. It’s all over the news and the public is talking about it, can you call this number once she will get there?”

I seated on Lisa’s sofa slowly and weak, questioning thoughts kept on running in my mind as I’m trying to figure out what the man just said in that call. What he mean by Lisa leading her opponent’s client to commit suicide.

Standing up, I went to my room to check my phone and called her number, wishing she’s already on her way home so I can finally ask what is going on in her life. It’s been one week since Lily and I moved here but she’s not sharing anything related to her or related to her work, all I know she’s always coming home late and looked really tired every time, okay that’s probably it, I wonder why she hasn’t said anything to me?

While calling Lisa’s number, her bell rings. I ended the unanswered call and walk into her living room towards her door. I pressed the intercom button, “Who is this?”

“It’s Irene Lisa, open this, I need to talk to you”

Shock and stunned, I stopped for a minute and only stared at my friend’s image flashed in the intercom screen. It’s been four years since she last saw me, since she made me run away from Jeju, from Lisa that night

Slowly I opened Lisa’s door, Irene’s eyes went wide immediately after she saw me, the hand bag she’s carrying fell down on her feet as she hastily went inside Lisa’s unit and held my shoulders with both of her hands.

“Jennie?! Is that really you?! You’re Jennie right?!” she shook me this time, staring at her pair of shock eyes I saw some evident tears escape on its sides.

“Irene calm down, yes it’s me Jennie” I calmed her down, I grab her hands on my shoulders.

She took a deep breath and soon wiped her tears using the back of her right hand before she stared at me again, grabbing my hand this time I saw another tear left her eyes

“So Lisa already found you, finally” she stated and stared deep into me, which in return made my brows to raise

“What?”

“God I can’t believe you’re finally here, Jen I am so sorry for making you run away that night four years ago, I’m sorry I-

Hearing that, I cut her “Irene that’s was long time ago, it’s not your fault so don’t blame yourself.”

She sighed “Still I’m sorry, I think it’s also my fault why Lisa suffered a lot in those four years, if only I didn’t let you run away that night..” she sniffed and wiped her remaining tears

I stared at Irene’s face, confuse at what she’s suddenly saying to me “What do you mean Lisa suffered a lot in those four years?”

She flashed a gloomy expression and her shoulders fell down, silently I watch how she made her way into Lisa’s living room and sits down on her sofa. I followed her and seated on her side, she turned her body sideways to me and held my hand above my legs

“Jennie you don’t know what Lisa had become after you run away from her again when she finally found you in Gangnam, even I and Seulgi don’t know what to do in her situation anymore, she just lost her whole family and- she paused and shut her eyes before starting into mine again “And she even lost you..”

I paused at that “What do you mean she lost me?”

“After one month of mourning the death of her family she suddenly started looking for you, I don’t know if she was doing that because of revenge, but believe me Jen when I say she hired lots of detectives and police to look for you in whole South Korea, she even disregarded her hotels in Jeju, Seoul and Thailand anymore just to look for you, to see you..” she stated
