Imagine
The pink bundle cried non-stop on the boardwalk, teetering between sobbing because of the constant smoke from fires or the taunts from teenagers.
It's a full moon and The Boys stroll right past the sobbing bundle of fair skin, well, all except for Dwayne who looked in her eyes, mentally promising to bless her with a loving family; The Boys, a gang of unruly vampires. She would adjust to their life day-by-day, act as a little sister and companion to Laddie, as well as the daughter Star always wanted.
"Dwayne?" Paul turned around to find Dwayne cooing to the little bundle of pink. "Don't even think about it, buddy. David said no more kids."
"She's all alone, Paul-y. Besides, we can't leave her out here with them," he nods over to the Surf Nazis. "They'll kill her. She's only a few hours old." He grabs onto her fragile hand, warming her.
"A human. Really, Dwayne?" David sneers, tired of his packmate adopting every single orphan he finds. "Fine, but give her to Star. She'll take care of her."

(Age 13)
"Closer To The Edge" 30 Seconds to MarsThe rosy-cheeked teenager held her delicate present, given to her by a still-broody Dwayne. She skipped to Star, showing the curly-haired half-vampire her silver-studded bracelet that Marks had gotten from the local Witches Brew, a small shop on the boardwalk that only opened at the witching hour.
"Star, Star! Look what Marko got me!" She shoved her wrist out as Laddie's eyes widened at the shiny gift. "Don't you like it, Laddie?" The little boy nodded gleefully.
"Go show Dwayne and David, Rose." She shoos her off toward the back of the cave where the teenager loved to hangout during the day. She'd watch Dwayne sleep, legs crossed and arms behind her head with 80's rock playing through her headphones. Rose and Dwayne had a bond like no other. In her eyes, they were close, like brother and sister. In his eyes, she was a potential mate. He'd felt something simmering between them since she was a baby.
"Dwayne! Look what Marko got me!" Rose screeched.
Dwayne glanced up from his book, "Tarzan", and smiled at her.
"It's beautiful, Rose." Like you.

(Age 18) "Mother" Charlie PuthDwayne, Marko and David gave Rose questionable glances, their eyes figuring her outfit out. Over the course of the years, her style had become more like theirs: leather jacket, earrings, etc.
Star tended to the fire before them, avoiding the awkward conversation she was about to be dragged into. David motioned for Star to nab his 'wine' from the cabinet and she wandered off.
Rose sat comfortably on Dwayne's lap, running her fingers absentmindedly along his leopard-printed jacket. "So...you guys, my family, haven't changed a day since you adopted me. Shouldn't you all have gray hair?"
Paul chuckles amidst the awkward silence. "It's difficult telling a thirteen year old what you really are when they're not old enough to understand."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Rose looked to David for support. He sipped the red wine quietly, reveling in the high it gave him.
"We're vampires, Rose. And we want you to join us." Dwayne mumbles into her hair.
It all made sense; the sleeping-in during the day, not liking garlic bread, not showing up in photographs, etc.
"Holy crap." Rose whispered.
