Chapter 19

Jacks POV
We left the formal at 12:30 and I was driving Elsa home when there was a thump and the car lurched.
"I think we hit something." Elsa said worried. We got out onto the road. There was a deer lying in front of the car, covered with blood.
Elsa put a hand over her mouth.
"Is it dead?" she asked horrified.
I touched its chest to see if it was breathing... It wasn't. I nodded A tear slid down her cheek. We heard a low growl and I turned to her.
"Was that you?" I asked.
"Why would I growl" Elsa replied grabbing my hand.
"Get in the car" I told her. She nodded and walked to the door. I did the same. Keeping my eyes on the woods on either side of us.
"Jack!" Elsa screamed.
I ran to where she was standing. A pitch black wolf was standing in front of her.
"What do I do?" She said weakly. Keeping her eyes on the wolf.
"Don't look it in the eyes" I told her.
"Look at its nose and bow your head."
She did. To any other wolf it would have looked like submission. But this one lunged at her. Mouth open snapping at her neck. She screamed as I pushed her out of the way and the wolf landed on me instead. I yelled as it bit into my shoulder. I could feel teeth grating on bone.
"Jack!" Elsa screamed charging at the wolf.
"Elsa No!" I yelled. But she didn't listen. She charged into the wolf knocking it off me. She was on top of it. It's teeth inches away from her throat. Holding my shoulder I raced over to help her. I took her place.
"Get in the car" I told her again.
"What are you going I do?" she asked worried.

Elsa's POV
"Just get in the car" he said again.
I didn't want to but I did. As I opened the door I heard him yell in pain . I ran to where he was and he was lying on the road. His throat was bleeding!
"JACK!!" I screamed.
A pack of wolves almost identical to the other black one where surrounding him. I had to do it. I had to. I ripped my gloves off and shot ice at one of the wolves. As I did another lunged at Jack.
I shot up an ice wall between them and then all around Jack. The wolves started to walk towards me. They lunged one by one and as yet did I shot ice at them an watched them run away.
Once they were all gone I ran to Jack. Taking down the shield. He was breathing, but they were only sharp shallow breaths. I couldn't stir but I didn't care. I picked him up and put him in the car. He groaned as I ripped off some of my dress to tie around his neck and another around my shoulder.
The worse I had gotten was a long scratch from my thing to my ankle. I was bleeding to but I didn't care. I drove erratically to the hospital and when I got there I hailed him inside.
"Help!" I screamed. but no one seemed to notice. "Help!" I screamed again. re lady from the reception desk looked up at me taking off her glasses. Her jaw dropped and she called a doctor. They loaded him onto one of those wheelie beds and started wheeling him away.
"What happened?" A nurse asked quickly as I walked along side his bed.
"Wolf attack" I choked.
