Chapter 36

Elsa's POV
"So why did you bring us here?" Jack asked quietly still recovering.
"To see what makes you change" Merida stated.
"So what does make us change?" I asked.
"Well" said the big man "we know what makes him change" he jerked his thumb towards Jack.
"What?" Jack asked inquisitively.
"Adrenaline" He explained.
"How can you tell?" I asked.
"He was so hyped up and ready that it made him nearly change. Basically if he gets to excited his adrenaline will rise and he will change"
"But I live for the thrill" Jack said making weird hand gestures.
We all laughed, the big man was staring at me. I cleared my throat.
"If you don't mind me asking, who are you?" He let out a small laugh.
"I am Fergus" he said. "The Alpha of our pack" he continued humbly.
"Wow, how many of you are there?"
"Enough about the pack" he said politely. "We need to know what makes you change." I didn't know whether to be excited or scared.
"How do you do that?"
"It's very simple" Merida started to explain. "We take some blood and"
"Wait what? You take my blood?" I was starting to feel sick.
"Yes" she continued "and then we put in this machine which breaks down the blood and finds out what wasn't there before which is there now and what triggers the change should be part of that." Fergus brought over the needle.
"Uhhh" I started to say. "Maybe another day. Or, or never, I mean I don't want to waste your time. We'll just go and"
"Elsa" Merida sighed. "Shut up, it doesn't hurt I promise"
Nervously I sat down. Fergus was about to inject it.
"WAIT!" I panicked. "Is it sterile?"
"Of course" he laughed. "Why don't you close your eyes?" he suggested, and I did. I closed my eyes and felt the needle go in, I winced.
"Ow!" I yelled when the blood went into the syringe. Finally the needle was out. They took the blood and put it in the machine.
"How long does it take?" I asked rubbing my arm.
"Three hours" Merida replied.
"Why don't you show them around Merida?" Fergus suggested.
"Yes... dad" she answered.
"Dad?" Jack and I asked simoltainiously.
"Yep" she said with a bounce.

Jacks POV
Merida walked us around the perimeter of the pack boundaries and showed us the caves where the pack slept at night. It felt strange knowing that soon I would join them.
"So how do we know to come here after we've changed?" I asked.
"You don't, the first time. Like when you first shifted you never showed up here because you didn't know about it, but this time, you'll need to change here."
"How will we get here?" Elsa asked.
"I mean, don't we change straight away?"
"Yes" Merida said looking anxious. "Which is why it's best for us to make you shift today so you know where to go"
"What?" Elsa and I asked bewildered.
