Chapter 29

Elsa's POV
I couldn't believe it. Jack wasn't dead!
He was sitting right in front of me.
"You're alive" I said over and over breathlessly. He laughed.
"I don't get it. I saw your heart monitor and everything, you were dead." I shook my head.
"I think it because-" he stopped and looked at my arm his face went pale.
"Because what?"
"Because, uh, um, I don't know" he said shrugging.

Jacks POV
She was bitten. It's going to happen. She's going to change. I couldn't figure out whether to tell her or not. Her long sleeved shirt made it hard to see the injury, maybe it wasn't that bad, maybe she wouldn't change.
"Elsa? Can I talk to you for a minute. Alone?"
"Oh" Anna said goofily walking up stairs.

Elsa's POV
"What is it?" I asked. Something was buzzing inside me. I couldn't tell if it was Joy or Ingestion, but I hoped it was joy.
"Was it a wolf that bit you on the arm?"
"Yeah" I said gritting my teeth together. I took my coat off and pulled up my sleeve. The veins around my bite where black, like they had been on Jack. I stumbled backwards in surprise.
"What is that?" I stuttered at Jack.
"Don't worry" he said.
"How can I not. You had this in you wen you died!"
"But I didn't die" he said quietly.
"You mean. I'm going to.... Change?" I gulped. He nodded.
"Does it hurt?" I asked, tears springing to my eyes.

Jacks POV
"No" I told her unconvincingly. What I really wanted to say was. "It only feels like all your bones are breaking at once oh and all your insides want to be on your outside. But apart from that, it's a fucking walk in the park." I held that back. She started to cry. I got up and put my arm around her.
"Hey" I said gently. "It's not that bad. I like it"
"How do you know?"
"Know what?"
"That you're going to change" he sniffed.
"You just know" I said nodding.
"What are you going to do now?" She asked.
I hadn't thought about.
"I don't know" I said truthfully.
