Chapter 40

Elsa's POV
On the way home in the car Jack held my hand as he hid under the glovebox at my feet.
"Wouldn't you be more comfortable in the boot?" I asked.
"Not really" he said attempting to shrug. The car lurched forward.
"Shit Anna" I laughed. "Wait, Since when could you drive?!"
Her face dropped. "Would you be mad if I said Ariel and I borrowed her dads to start learning?" she asked.
"Yes! Jack how could you let her do that!"
"I didn't know she was going to!" he said looking cross.
"Well if I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have been able to drive you home!" she screeched. Suddenly sirens were going off behind us and I saw red and blue lights flashing in the rear-view mirror. Anna kept driving. "What are you doing Anna? Pull over!"
"I'm underaged, you'll get in trouble for being in here with me and they'll see Jack" she replied. I watched as her eyes flicked to the dirt road coming up on our left that trailed into the woods.
"Anna no! There's no way you could drive us through there. Are you forgetting where Jack is? If you crash he'll be dead!"
"Again" he added.
"Just shut up" she said cooly.
She made a tight turn and drove across the freeway into the bush. I could here the screeching tires behind us and hoped I wouldn't here a crash.
Anna picked up the speed through the bush, I thought she would've slowed down, but the sirens were still blaring behind us. Jack was shaking at my feet.
"Jack? Are you okay?"
"Mmmmmm" he mumbled.
Adrenaline.
"Anna you need to get us home now!"
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"Jacks going to change unless we don't calm him the fuck down."
She looked at Jack.
"Shit" she mumbled. She picked up the speed. We got to a clear patch not to far from our house, she stopped the car.
"Get out" she said sweetly.
"But we need to get home" I said.
"I know, but they'll track our car. Just get out quick." I grabbed Jack and got out of the car, the engine started up again.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Sorry!" she yelled out as she drove it into to a tree.
"ANNA!" I screamed running to the car. Luckily she only hit it softly and got out. "What are you doing?"
"It needs to look legit" she said spraying some glue on the handles an steering wheel.
"Why?" I asked befuddled.
"So we can report it stolen. No one will ever know" she laughed.
"Why do I feel like you've done this before?" The sirens were getting closer. "Help me carry him." I moaned.
"Carry who?" Jack said suddenly on his feet. "Oh my god, is that my car! What happened?"
Anna and I looked at each other am laughed. The lights came into view.
"Run" Anna stated.
