24. Can't get over

"Dev..... Are you feeling well enough?" 

He opens his eyes to find worried and impatient Sona, sitting near him. He then, notices the needle piercing his skin.

"You're at home. I'm giving you some IV your body needs some energy" she smiles adjusting the needle.

He sits up.

"I'm sorry..." Says he.

"It's okay Dev. I understand." She strokes his hair.

"Sonakshi... I don't think I can complete my treatment process." He sighs.

"You can do that. You just need to talk to me."

"......"

"Let's have dinner..... I have prepared for you."

"Thanks" he smiles.

Their meal was all silent and awkward.

"I'm sorry I made the things awkward for you" he sighs.

"There you go again!" She fumes while sipping her meal.

"What?"

"Shut your nonsense and sleep well okay!" She orders taking back the plates.

"Ele was hurt"

"So were you!" She glares at him angrily, "Can't you just stop thinking about others?"

Days seemed to be passed normally. But Dev was not able to talk to her about his past. Neither she was able to make him talk about it. She was sad.

She calls Riya for a meet up.

"Riya.... I... I need you to help me. He keeps being upset about the work and suddenly his subconscious mind remembers something and he just jumps out in a jerk." Says Sonakshi.

They were sitting in the car. Sona just wanted to make sure that his sister can know about his condition.

"Umm... But... He needs to be at work isn't it?" Riya asks.

"I'll talk to you directly about it. See I need him to be focused on getting cured rather than getting burdened. So... Why don't you take over his position? I mean your studies are over last month."

"I know Bhai will hand it over to me but isn't it too much to ask? I mean.... I misunderstood and thought he was the one who made everyone suffer.."

"I understand you Riya but trust me. By doing this you're going to help him a lot."

"Fine Di. I'm gonna talk to him about it."

"I'd appreciate it. Also his secretary, Ms. Neha is a nice person. She's gonna help you with everything."

This night, Sonakshi was working on her laptop in her room. While Dev was trying to get some sleep after having the sleeping pills.

The next morning, when Sonakshi wake up. She found herself on her study table itself. She gets up to get herself a cup of coffee.

While passing through his room she finds that he wasn't in his room.

"Dev" she calls and searches for him everywhere. But he was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly she finds something fishy on her right side. It was the cupboard.

"Devvvv" she screams as he was sitting inside the cupboard. She was terrified.

His eyes were closed and he was cold. He falls on the floor.

"Dev open your eyes" she yells patting his cheeks.

She realizes he was not breathing. "Dev please" she proceeds for the CPR.

After a minute he finally coughs. She was all sweaty and tired. 

"Dev are you okay?" She asks cupping his face.

He was weak and dumbstruck.

"What....!!" He sits away from her. He was shocked.

"What the hell were you doing inside?" She yells.

"I.... Umm...."

"You are weak. Come." She makes him lay down on his bed.

"....." He was staring blankly at the ceiling.

She injects him some medicines and he sleeps after a while. She was tired.

She decided to stay home today to take care of him.

He wakes up after a nap of about 3 hours. She jumps excitedly when he opens his eyes.

"Are you okay?" She asks sitting beside him.

"Aaaaa" he screams and jerks away.

"Dev!!" She was surprised.

"Leave me alone." He says after he recognizes her worries.

"Dev"

"Leave me alone" he shouts.

Sonakshi was surprised.

This night, she brings up a cup of coffee for him.

He was sitting on the corner of the room, blankly. The room was dark.

"Dev... Do you want some coffee?" She says sitting next to him.

He looks at her.

"Why were you inside the cupboard?" She asks.

"Sonakshi. I think my idea of living with you was bad. I'm sorry Sonakshi.... I put you in so much trouble." Dev sighs.

"What happened Dev?" She asks.

"Mamaji was here last night. I was hiding from him and ended up in the cupboard. I'm really sorry... I startled you.."

"Dev, please. You don't have to be the understanding one among others. Just let me know what is bothering you. You can't always take the pain to yourself. You don't have to be mild to everyone. It's okay to react Dev"

"Am I not a burden to you? Don't you want me to let you live peacefully?"

"I want you to live peacefully more than anything."

He leans his head on her shoulder. The tear makes its way from his eyes to her lap. She caresses his cheeks while he keeps weeping silently.
