22. Deal!

"Dev..... You are not at fault in any way" Sonakshi, who was holding up her tears, keeps Dev in her soft embrace. 

"Am I shamelessly roaming around like a matter of joke?" He asks with his voice a bit shaky. Sonakshi dugs his face in her shoulder and tightens the grip.

"Sshh... Let's not talk about it.... Get a hold of yourself" finally she lets her tears flow down her cheeks. She pats his back and meanwhile he remains silent. He doesn't seem to say anything. His eyelids were wet, though his eyes were blankly dried.

Suspecting his silence, she assumes his heartbroken badly. "Let's go home" she whispered.

"I don't want to....." He replies emotionlessly.

"Why?" She asks squeezing her eyelids.

"Can't I just disappear?"

She breaks the hug and cups his face. His face was red with patches of tears. His hair was ruffled on his forehead. His plumpy lips were dried.

"You are drunk..... Let's talk later" she rubs her thumbs on his cheeks.

"Sonakshi...." He softly whispers.

It was the next morning. Sonakshi, who was there, beside him, after hearing her name says, "Yes... Dev I'm here."

He wakes up sitting at a very sudden moment.

"Ahh...." Dev grabs his hair complaining about a bad headache.

"Take this medicine" she offers him a tablet. He recollects everything that happened last night.

"I.... I was... drunk so..... don't misunderstand....."

"I know" she scoffs. "Anyways you have to come to pick me up today as well.... If you forgot" she says mischievously.

"Yes yes fine...." He says.

It was late night when Dev finally got rid of work and went to pick her up.

But now, she wasn't anywhere to be found. He gets out of his car and searches for her. But couldn't find her.

She was hiding behind the tree and was enjoying his worries for her. He calls on her phone but was unable to reach her. He runs into her office but she wasn't there as well.

He gets a call and hurriedly picks it up.

"Hello"

"You think you can find her every time? Devil will be back"

And the call disconnects.

His eyes start tearing up and his body shivers. His feet were dragging him backward and his expression turned lifeless.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi hides behind him to scare him.

"Woo," says she with her eyes mischievously waiting for a response from him.

He turns around and just hugs her, tightly. She was surprised. Her heart was racing and her body was shocked. Her mind was numb but happy.

"Are you alright?" He asks caressing her body.

"De-v"

"It's okay.... It's okay I'm here.... I'm sorry" he kisses her forehead.

She confusingly stares at him. He cups her face in his big palms.

"Dev I'm alright. Why are you behaving like this?" She asks.

"Let's go" he grabs her hand and makes her sit in the car.
