After a difficult basketball match, TJ finds comfort in an unexpected place, which makes him realise what he really feels. Told from a single POV.

TJ POV

I had never been so furious, that basketball game was the worst. I wasn't angry at my team, or the game, but more myself. What made me feel worse was that I didn't feel like there was anyone I could talk to.

I walked over to where my friends were, but wasn't really sure what to say. I had never liked speaking to them about feelings, because they made me feel awkward. It wouldn't be so bad if one of them wasn't in a relationship. Cyrus was with Jonah, Andi had Amber and Buffy was dating Marty.

Cyrus: So, tough game?

Me: You could say that.

Jonah: There's always next time.

Me: That's what everyone says.

Amber: Well it's true, lighten up a bit.

Andi: You shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself.

Marty: You do a good job anyway.

Buffy: Let's face it, at the end of the day it's just a game.

I was quite hurt by Buffy's comment. I know she didn't mean it in a bad way, but it's more than just a game to me.

Me: Maybe one day, you'll understand exactly how I feel at this point in time.

Taking the moral high ground, I walked away from them and tried to clear my mind. I noticed that Walker was standing at the entrance to the basketball court, and I don't know why, but I felt like I should talk to him.

Walker: You okay? You seem upset about something.

Me: Can I maybe, talk to you?

Walker: Of course you can, what's on your mind?

Me: I feel like whatever I do, I always screw up during every game.

Walker: From what I hear, you're our best player.

Me: Who says that?

Walker: Everyone in the school mentions how great you are.

Me: How come I never hear them?

Walker: Perhaps because you never listen.

For no obvious reason, I found myself laughing at his last comment. He does have a point, I very rarely listen to anyone.

Me: I'm glad that I could talk to you about this.

Walker: I'm happy that you feel that way.

I couldn't help but stare at Walker's face, and admire just how adorable he was. He smiled at me, which made my heart skip a couple of beats. I couldn't figure out what was happening, why was my heart doing this?

Walker: Admiring the view are you?

Me: N-no, I was just thinking.

Walker: About what?

Me: It's nothing really.

The expression on his face let me know that he was aware that I was lying. I didn't care though, it was for me to work out what I was feeling.

Walker: Are you sure about that? You look a little flustered to me.

Me: I can't help it if you're cute!

My cheeks went so red after saying that. I didn't feel as if I had any control over what I was saying anymore.

Walker: You think I'm cute?

Me: Y-yes. Is that b-bad?

Walker: No way! I think you're the hottest guy here!

I felt myself becoming more and more comfortable, but at the same time I felt a little confused about what was happening.

Me: What does this mean?

Walker: I hope it means you're going to ask me out.

Me: Would you like to go out?

Walker: Damn right I would!

Me: Cool!

I was so excited about what was happening. After everything bad that had occurred during the game, I ended the day with a boyfriend.
