After Skyler got into a Class, she went to tell Logan the news. Finally she spotted him and his buddies in the Commons Area. She ran up to him and said, “Hi Logan!”

Logan turned and frowned, “You’re still following me?”

Skyler blinked, “Well yeah. I mean, we are friends aren’t we?” Crash and Kurt snickered behind him. Logan just laughed, “You’re kidding, right?”

Now Skyler felt confused. She check behind her to check to see if Logan was talking to somebody else. Skyler then looked back at Logan, “I don’t understand―”

“You’re not special anymore Skyler,” explained Logan, “You are just a Basic.”

“What’s wrong with me being Basic exactly?” said Skyler, her hand on her Lightning Blaster, which is strapped to her belt. Logan did a face palm in frustration, “Uh, everything. The only reason I let you in the gang is because I thought you were in the Mythical Class. I can’t let Hybrids weaker than me join my group. Course, you understand, right?”

Skyler bit her lip, then nodded.

“Good,” said Logan, “Let’s go guys.” Before Logan and his buddies could leave, Skyler said, “Wait.”

Logan turned in annoyance, “What now?”

“It’s just,” said Skyler, “Can I at least get a hug goodbye? Since we won’t be hanging out anymore?” Crash made mock kissing motions with his lips, Logan death glaring him to silence. Logan sighed, “I guess.”

Skyler grinned as they started to hug. Before they could go into a full hug though, Skyler kicked Logan with her knee hard in the gut. Logan staggered back, then Skyler punched him hard in the face. He went passed out cold.

“Now,” she said, “anyone else want to manipulate my emotions?”

Terrified, Crash and Kurt grabbed passed out Logan and ran to the Infirmary. Skyler smirked, “Didn’t think so.”

Once they left, Skyler sighed, “I hate it when Lucian is right.”

“You should give him a chance you know,” a voice said behind her. Skyler grabbed her Blaster and turned, only to find Cavian holding his hands up. “Hey! I swear I didn’t download anything!”

“Oh, it’s just you,” said Skyler. She put away her Blaster, “What do you want?”

“I heard you talking to that jerk Logan,” said Cavian, “I thought you could use some backup, but as it turns out you got it under control.”

Skyler rubbed her neck, embarrassed, “Oh, you saw that?” Cavian nodded, noticing her expression, “Yeah, and you shouldn’t feel embarrassed. It’s Logan who should be feeling that. For any girl who can do that to Logan and walk away with pride is alright in my book. He has no idea what he’s missing out on.”

Skyler chuckled, “Trust me, you wouldn’t be saying that if you knew my past and were we came from.”

“I think I would,” said Cavian, “Anyways, like I said before― you should give Lucian a chance. He tries to hide it, but I know he feels alone. I’m not saying you should go flirting with him―”

“I don’t flirt,” Skyler glared. Cavian rolled his eyes, “Right. Anyways, just try to be friends with Lucian. You won’t believe how much it will make a difference in his life.” Skyler raised an eyebrow, “Why do you want me to make friends so badly?” Cavian shrugged, “I don’t know, I just feel like you will be happier.”

Skyler rubbed her arm, “Lucian said something like that to.”

Cavian grinned, “Must be the truth then. Hey, my friends Tyler, Bryant and I are going to play some basketball, and we need a fourth player to make it even. Wanna join us?”

     “Whose Bryant?” asked Skyler.

“You’ll see,” said Cavian, “Come on.”

Skyler shrugged, thinking she has nothing better to do, and agreed to join. Meanwhile, Lucian is still inside his dorm, looking out the window. A knocking is heard on the door, and Lucian went to open it. Expecting to see Jay, he was a little surprised to find Alastair Pride looming over him, his green staff in one hand.

“Mr. Pride,” blinked Lucian. “Um, what are you doing here? Am I in trouble?”

Alastair chuckled, “Of course not, my boy. I wish to speak with you. May I come in?”

“Uh, sure,” said Lucian. He let Alastair inside, and Lucian let the door open just a crack as Alastair leaned on Lucian’s bed. He looked around the room, “This room is much too small. I don’t understand how someone like you doesn’t feel crowded inside it.”

“It’s better than what I used to live in, sir,” said Lucian. Alastair smiled, “Yes, yes of course. Anyways, I have a question for you.”

“Yes sir?” asked Lucian. He has no idea why he keeps calling Alastair sir ― it seemed safer that way when Lucian talks to him. Alastair smiled one of those creepy smiles that tries to disguise itself as friendly. “I can’t imagine how lonely you must feel, being the only member in the Undead Class. People might be too scared to even train you.”

“Just what is it that you are asking me, sir?” asked Lucian suspiciously. Alastair’s eyes gleamed, “Well, since you seem so curious I will like to train you, so that I―” he stopped himself, “Pardon me, so that you can control your powers.”

Lucian looked at him, “Um, not to be rude sir . . . aren’t you a little old to be a Trainer?”

Alastair chuckled, “Oh relax. I won’t be doing the physical training. Believe it or not, I do have some friends in this Organization who will be more than happy to help me train you Lucian.”

“Okay,” said Lucian, “Why are you being nice to me all of the sudden?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” Alastair shrugged, “Perhaps because you remind me of me when I was your age. I to have a, er, how you say . . . shadowed past. So, what do you say? Are you in?”

Lucian rubbed his neck. As always, the voices in his head pressured him, trying to make him say yes. Yet because his mind always makes Lucian do the evil stuff, he didn’t quite trust Alastair’s motives.

“I’ll have to think about it,” he said, “Thanks for the offer though.”

“Oh, it’s no trouble at all!” said Alastair. He sat up straight and got his staff, “Well, I best be going then!” He went to Lucian’s door. Just before he left, he glanced at Lucian, “Let me know when you want to release your inner animal inside.”

Then Alastair left, leaving Lucian confused at his choice of wordplay. He decided to shrug it off and looked out his window. He’s not going to hide in the shadows anymore. Undead Hybrid or not, it’s still the Hybrid Organization right? They’ll still try to help him, won’t they?

Only one way to find out. Lucian took a deep breath and headed for the Commons Area, were he assumed some of his friends are hanging out right now.

If I still have friends, he thought.
