I sit in my room, head down, studying hard for my exams.

A loud knock comes from my window, causing me to lift my head. It sounded like a bird had flew into it, therefore I ignore it.

The sound comes again…and again.

Right. Definitely not a bird.

I draw back my curtains, to find the summer sun shining in my face- I squint my eyes.

Suddenly, I flinch backwards slightly, as a small stone hits my window.

Confused, I retrace my line of sight towards the direction the stone was thrown.

My eyes lock into a familiar pair of eyes- of Greg’s- looking up at me from my front lawn, he grins at me mischievously. So it was him throwing rocks at my window like you see in those cliché movies.

I smile at the sight of him, and my heart skips a beat. Greg and I haven’t known each other long, we’ve only gone on a few dates here and there, but he’s outgoing, carefree, funny, caring, everything about him just makes me fall for him.

I snap out of my little daydream.

“Hey! I’m trying to study here!” I shout down from my open window, trying to sound annoyed with him.

“Aww, please Taitum? Take a small break? For me?” He shouts back.

I realize for the first time that he is standing over a box of some sort, but I can’t make out what it is.

“Fine, but if I fail these exams, the blame’s on you!” I say teasingly.

I run downstairs and out the front door, almost crashing into Greg who was now standing there, holding a box of my favourite chocolates. I had only told him once that they were my favourite, and he remembered!

I smile, pulling him in for a hug to hide my now flushed cheeks.

I feel butterflies in my stomach, breathing in his strong scent of aftershave.

He hands me the box of chocolates.

“Here, these are for you,” he pauses. “I thought it’d motivate you while studying.”

I hug the box tightly, looking into his blue eyes.

“Thank you,” I say to him. His face lights up.

I desperately try to look for something more to say.

Greg throws his hands in his pockets, swaying back and forth slightly, as if contemplating on whether he should say something.

“Will you be my girlfriend Taitum?” he says after a while. The question catches me by surprise.

“Wh-what?” I stumble, trying to buy myself some time to digest what he had just said.

“I like you a lot, will you be my girlfriend?” He sounded more uncertain this time.

I reassure him with a big smile.

“Gregory West, are you trying to distract me from my study?” I decide to say instead.

“Dang! You caught me!” he says shifty eyed, pretending to look like I caught him of his guilty act.

“You’re terrible!” I say, whacking him playfully in the arm.

He gently pulls me closer to him, pushing a strand of my long brown hair behind my ear.

I smile shyly, marveling at his perfect blonde hair, and the little details of his face- which was now only a few inches away from mine.

He touches my cheek with a gentle stroke of his warm hand, then leans down. I feel his soft lips lightly touching mine.

My heart skips a beat as soon as our lips touch, but I eagerly deepen the kiss.

Is this really happening? The thought revolves around my head.

Greg lets out a small groan, kissing me passionately for a moment longer before pulling out so we can both catch a breath.

“You never answered my question Taitum,” he asks me now, letting out an almost nervous sounding laugh.

“Yes, I will be your girlfriend,” I tell him, restoring his confidence.

His smile widens, pressing his lips on mine once again.

If I do badly in these coming exams, it will all be because of my boyfriend.
