Christian's POV

One Week Later

She left me. She really left me and she took the twins with her, leaving me here in Seattle while she went back to California with her family. I can't say that I blame her though, especially when she's only thinking about the safety of our children, but I just wished that she'd see things from my point of view. Yes, I lied to her face, even when I had plenty of opportunities to tell her the truth; but I thought I could handle this without her knowing. I thought that I could keep her and our kids safe, just long enough for the police to find Jack, and throw his worthless ass behind bars. Unfortunately...that didn't work out in my favor.

What I also didn't understand was how Elena got involved in this mess, especially when it was her that came to me and told me that Jack was looking for me. Was this all apart of some elaborate plan to split me and my wife up? If so, they succeeded and that thought alone angered me deeply.

"Mr. Grey? Dr. Grace is on line one for you." Andrea said, as I sighed heavily. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her, knowing exactly what she wanted to talk about, but I couldn't explain why Elena showed up at my house. Shit...I can't even explain why she tried to shoot my pregnant wife, but I will find out.

"Could you tell my mother that I'm in a meeting, but I will call her back as soon as I can." I said, knowing that I probably wouldn't call her back. The only person I wanted to talk to was my wife and kids, but Destiny refused to talk to me. Sure, she called me so that I could talk to the twins, but when I try to start a conversation with her she just hangs up the phone. Speaking of which...I needed to call and check on my babies. I propped up my phone, preparing to call Destiny's phone via FaceTime, but my call was interrupted when Mia's face popped up on my phone. She was calling me on FaceTime, which made me huff loudly, as I answered her call.

"Mia, now really isn't a good time." .

"Better time as any, don't you guys think?" I heard her say, as my babies came into view.

"Hi Daddy!" They beamed, smiling widely into the camera. They were sitting in Mia's lap, with their heads pressed together, which made me smile. Dammit, I missed them.

"Hey! What are you two up to?" I asked them. They both started talking at the same time, which eventually made Kynlee upset because she couldn't get a word in over her brother's loud voice, which made her whine as she ran off calling out to Destiny. My spoiled little angel. "How are you doing son?"

"I good." He said, as he started messing around with Mia's phone.

"Hey, stop that! Go grab your sister so she can talk to Daddy." She told him, as he nodded and ran off. "Ugh, I love them so much, but they are a handful!"

"Don't I know. And what are you doing in California?"

"Well after finding out that Jack had escaped police custody, mom and dad thought it would be a good idea for me to get away for awhile, and Destiny's parents offered me a place to stay and I accepted."
