My thoughts are interrupted by my cell phone buzzing. My heart skips.
It's Linda as I see from the caller Id. I frown, I was hoping it would've been Lyla. But, I knew it was a matter of time before Linda called. It's Saturday night and she knows Lyla left and how emotional I'll be.
I should brag that Anthony gave me a bottle of vintage, she'll get a kick out of that. Anthony and Linda, how can I say, have a little thing for each other. I don't know how that happened. She usually doesn't fool around with men her age, as she puts on Match.com or Eharmony dating description "age range, 18-30".
I hit accept.
"Hi Linda" I sigh
"Are you ok?" she quickly asks. It sounds loud though where she's at.
"Yes...Just feel melancholy that's all" I sigh taking a sip of wine.
"You want some company," She asks as she sounds hopeful.
"No, it's ok. I'm going to take my usual night swim and relax" I reply. Her idea of fun is way different from mine.
"You go, girl! Get that swim on. And if you change your mind, I'll dis my date and come right over" she replies and I hear her giggle. Oh, no. she's having way too much fun. It sounds like she's on a date. I don't know how she balances work and a boy toy.
"Of course, but I think it sounds like your having way more fun to just dis your date," I say as we both laugh as she agrees with a "Yup" sounding out the P.
"Ok, well enjoy yourself call me tomorrow" I say knowing very well what her night will entail. I chuckle and hang up.
I run upstairs and head into my bathroom. I see my bikini drying on my wall mount shelf. My prize-winning thong bikini. Just to think, he saw me in this. I put it on. I stare at myself in the mirror. This is definitely a favorite one by far, after yesterday's soap opera scene. I wonder if he ended up having more of a kissing scene with whoever was on the other line of the call he got.
I grab my towel wrap it around my waist. Head out to my bedroom. Did I bring my phone up here? I glance around the room. Nope, this swirling I have on my head needs to straighten up.
I head back downstairs, straight to the kitchen. And see my cell phone by the bottle of wine. Ah, there it is. I surely need this swim and grab the glass of wine, the bottle, cell phone, and head downstairs to the pool. As I reached the last step, I check my cell, to see if she called or texted as I was upstairs changing.
Nothing. She'll call if anything. Surprising, Anthony hasn't called either. He's usually giving me his drinking Saturday night binge, "Your the best Alix" conversations.
I put everything on top of the patio table. Wow, it's another beautiful night. The stars are out. I take in a deep breath as I close and open my eyes. Stare over to the pool. The last time I was in there, well, here we go again. Joe's face comes to play. I can't drive myself nuts like this. I need to relax. I take a quick sip and head over to the pool steps. Climb down two steps and glide in backward into the pool.
"MMM, this feels so good" drifting around the water. I just can't help but think about him again. I can't get him out of my head being in here. As, much as I keep trying to convince myself, to stop, his face, smile, kiss, the body keeps popping up. What is going on with me? Why am I thinking about him? He's 25. But there was an instant connection. He has a bit of a dry sense of humor but, those fucking eyes kill me.
He basically just finished college. Not with Lyla, but it has to be at least, 3 or 4 years, he's finished. Did he go to the same college as them? What did he study? He said he's a consultant, but didn't tell me for which company. The poor guy probably makes $25,000 for starters.
