CHAPTER 41

"I-I," I shuddered and became speechless. What do I say, yes he's smiling but at me. It seems he's excusing himself and begins to walk toward Anna and myself. I gasp as my body reacted with shivers of desire, knowing he's here with me walking confidently.

"Ladies," he greets with a husky, sexy voice as he stands in front of us. I look over at Anna, and she's in complete AW. She's staring at him with her mouth slightly open as if her tongue will trickle down to the floor any second. Is she serious?

"A-Anna," she stammers as she extends her hand, begging for attention. He takes it and they shake, but quickly, let's go. I did notice that. And the winner is me.

"Anna, this is Joe, my date," I glance over to Joe. "Joe, this is my Secretary," I introduce. Maybe now she can close her mouth.

"Hello Anna, nice to meet you," he says with a grin and gazes back at me.

"Alix, can I have this dance," He asks with a lovely smile. He lends out his hand for me to take. But sees my thumb tapping on the table. He chuckles and nods. What can I say, I get this way when he's around me.

"Sure, I take his hand and walk away with him. I wish I can see her face, as I walked away with the man she was hoping was single. Nope, not this one, sweetie. 

We walk towards the dance floor. My heart is racing, all eyes on us. I'm getting ready to have a slow romantic dance with Joe. The last time I was on a dance floor, slow dancing was on my wedding night with Michael. 

Joe takes my breath away with all his surprises. Two more couples are walking towards us, ready to dance to "Mandy" by Barry Manilow as it still sounds as beautiful as the first time I heard it.

He guides me to the middle of the dance floor and pulls me close in his arms. It feels so natural the way he did. He takes my hand with his, and we start to move slowly with the melody. He's such a natural. I didn't see him as someone who's slow dances, but he's definitely taking the lead here. He lowers his head, and our eyes lock, listening to the lyrics and stay this way for what seems like forever. What is he thinking behind those beautiful blue eyes? He squeezed my hand and gives me a warm smile. He leans in.

"Are you my Mandy?" he whispers softly by my ear. I closed my eye and felt a fire ignite through my body as he asked if I was his Mandy. I hit my heart; I don't want to cry right now. 

"What are you doing to me, Alix?"

"Nothing, Joe, I'd say the same to you" I whisper staring deep into his eyes and god my body feels so good right now. I take a deep breath.

"Yes, you do," he replies, not taking his eyes off mine.

"I like my company...is that so bad?" 

"No...not at all, Alix," 

"Thank you for tonight?" 

"You already thanked me back in the elevator," 

"I know, I wanted to let you know, you've made this by far another special night for me, Joe," I say as I'm admiring him.

"Your welcome-You know, you're going to owe me," He says as he gives me that devious look. 

"Oh, do I-and what is that? 

"Hmm, I'll let you know later," he says in a deep voice and digs his finger down the center of my back, and it lingered all over that I let out a slight moan. He kisses my forehead, not caring who is here looking at us.  

The song comes to an end, and he guides me off the dance floor, holding my hand, walking toward the center part of the room at what looks like the busiest bar of the night. I definitely need a drink after that dance. As we get closer to the bar, I spot Anthony and Brian socializing with some of our colleagues. Does Joe realize Brian is there with Anthony? I think he does cause we are strolling right towards them. Is he showing me his jealousy side? Not now, Please. I stand beside Joe as his arm is on the bar and puts the other around my waist as I do the same passing my thumb on his lower back.
