"Yes, Mr. Roberts...I'm sorry, I thought everyone here would be sleeping," I breathlessly said as I placed my hand over my heart startled as he's standing there with his hands next to his thighs. Shit, I have Joe's t-shirt on.
"I was trying to find the kitchen; I needed some tea, I couldn't sleep."
"Yes, of course, would you like me to bring you up a cup?" he asked politely. Smiling, but he's probably laughing inside, as I have no pants one.
"No, please," my eyes widened. "I rather go and have a seat...I'm sorry, would I be able to?" I replied, hopeless.
"Why of course you may," he turns to walk toward the kitchen as I follow.
It's probably 2 miles away, but hey I need the walk, it seems relaxing. There's tapestry all around the walls. I would love to ask Joe what's behind some of these paintings on the wall as we traveled to the kitchen.

"Mmmm, there's nothing like a hot cup of tea," I expressed to Robert as he watched me take another sip.
"Thank you so much again, Robert. It's delicious tea. I didn't want to wake up Joe; he was sound asleep" I gracefully thanked him as I tapped my thumb on the teacup, looking at him putting away tea kettle. He makes it just the way I prefer.
"Yes, sometimes it can be the result of one's mind," He noted. He knows, oh, he knows about my thoughts for sure. I take a deep breath.
"Can I be honest with you, Robert?" I dared to ask, still tapping my thumb on the teacup as I have my elbows on the table.
"Yes, Mrs. Taylor"
"I think we are passed that stage, you can call me, Alix, plus I feel old when they call me Mrs. Taylor, I hear it enough at work," I asked politely, chuckling as I put my cup down.
"Yes, I'm sorry," he replies, understandingly and not insulted.
"Did he speak to you about me? It's just odd that you, Martha, and Espinosa all knew my name, and you were already aware of what my preference of wine I'd drink." I asked with my heart in my throat.
"Alix..." he smiles back, acknowledging he called me by the first name.
"What do you think?" he quizzically said. And that's exactly what I thought. He did!
"I guess," I shrugged and took another sip of my tea.
"I feel as if he's spoken to everyone but me and never thought to have mentioned about all this," I complain rolling my eyes.
"Alix...He had all the intentions to let you know. He knew in the back of his mind how you were going to react...Yes, it was wrong to lie by not letting you know...But this is his life and what's built, are in two different paths-He's fighting his personal life and building an empire...It's who he was and what he is now," he expresses sincerely.
"It's not that simple," I respond, watching me tap my goddamn thumb on the teacup. The nerves set in. SHIT!
"His sister and my daughter are Best friends, and I'm...I..."
He cuts me off quickly.
"Alix, I know your 42, and that should not be an issue. He doesn't see you as someone who's of your age," He defended as I gasps and looked down. Wow! I've been dreading the age, and yet, he doesn't see me as a woman older than him. Way older than him, I might add.
"There's so much about his past; I don't know."
Alix-we all have a past, as you may know, the past is the past, either we choose to stay or move on. Either way, we all need to see life as a gift. Once you open it-don't waste it being unhappy. It's not a guarantee, but it's yours to decide your purpose," he says with pure sympathy. Where was Robert when I needed him to cope with my marriage. Shit man.
