The Plan

A few days later, I just started to become depressed. Kicker would hardly ever leave me alone, and it was starting to piss me off. Beatings became more and more often, and honestly, I didn't have the will to fight on anymore.

The only thing I could be grateful for was that I was being fed better. I got more food, and it was better tasting. Everyone told me it was because Mephiles was trying to fatten me up so I didn't look so skinny at the wedding, but I don't care as long as I get something in my belly.

Sigh. At least I was getting a break right now. Ever since the day that I was told that I was getting married, I started staying in the balcony room more often. And today, Kicker was needed somewhere for something. So, I was finally alone.

Looking out to the outside the world out there seemed at peace. Unlike in here.

I sigh again. I still don't want to get married, but I don't have a choice do I? No, I don't. I'm stuck doing whatever Mephiles tells me, and soon, I'll be stuck doing whatever Kicker tells me. If that hasn't already happened yet.

That isn't a life I want to live. Ever.

Then, I hear an airplane in the distance. My ears perk up, and I rush out to sit on the balcony. I look around. Airplanes never get anywhere near here. Mephiles didn't even use airplanes for any shipments or just for anything.

So, this was something new. Then, I hear it come more closer. It was coming from the forest. Looking over there, I see a blue airplane come out of nowhere. It started to shoot at the base, and alarms started to go off.

Someone finally found the base. This should be interesting.

The airplane flew around, expertly dodging the lasers and bullets. Then I hear someone shouting like they were having a blast.

I look to the sound and see by the river, a very fast blue streak. I have to blink a few times. What is that? It kind of reminds me of when Mephiles takes a run and he runs fast like that. But I don't know of anyone else who has that kind of speed.

I watch whoever -or whatever it is- for a while. It kinda looks like its having... Fun? I don't even know if I'm using that word correctly, but it did seem like it was having the time of its life.

Then, the blue streak ran up the wall of the canyon, and not even two seconds later, a blue hedgehog was standing on the balcony's railing. I gasped, and take a step back.

The hedgehog is a he. He wore red and white tennis shoes, with a gold buckle on them. His eyes were an emerald green, his chest fur was white, his skin apricot. Our eyes lock for a moment.

He stood there staring at me for what seemed like forever. Then, I finally had the courage to say something.

"Please don't hurt me," I whisper. It was all that I really could say. He probably thinks I'm one of Mephiles' guards or something.

"Why would I do that?" he asks, stepping down from the railing, "I honestly don't want to hurt anyone."

"You're one of those people Mephiles hates, aren't you?" I ask.

"Yep," he pops the p. "And who are you?"

"Pretty much a slave and punching bag," I frown. "Just a girl living in hell I guess."

"Well, if you ever want to escape, just ask. No one whose innocent should have to live here," he says.

I smile a real smile at him, and he smiles friendly back at me. Then out of nowhere, Kicker comes, stepping in between us.

"Oi! Step away from me fiancée Blue," Kicker says. Was that really his name? Or it just one of those nicknames.

"It's Sonic, Kicker," the hedgehog says. Sonic.... That name sounds familiar, but I don't know from where.
