A few hours later, it was eleven thirty. I didn't want to end up meeting Matrix too early, but I didn't want to show up late. Usually it takes me fifteen minuets to get to the servant's quarters, but I probably need the extra fifteen minuets dodging the guards.
So, this seems like the time to leave. I get up, and hopefully take the last look at my room before I cautiously open the door.
And amazingly, Matrix was right. Even though I heard them lock it earlier, it was unlocked. Carefully, I push it all the way open, and look out of the room.
No guards were out patrolling the hall at the moment, so I took the chance to quickly get out of the room. I closed the door quietly before I start to run down the halls, my black boots not making a single sound.
Every so often I had to stop and wait for a few noisy guards to pass by, or avoid the cameras. Lucky for me that I know this place nearly by heart, so I knew all the shortcuts and where all the cameras are.
Mephiles probably shouldn't have let me roam around so much. Not his best choice, but, it's good for me.
Everything was quiet, and dark. Only a few lights were on, which was an advantage to me since I'm all black. The only thing that anyone might notice in this light was my hair and my eyes.
I hope this works. It has to. If it doesn't, I'm dead, maybe literally.
Soon, I was almost there. That was when I see Kicker coming down the hall. I gasp quietly, and press myself against the wall as he passes by with someone else.
"So, your going to go check on Luna?" the other figure asks. He looked like a dark colored wolf with bright eyes. That's the best I can tell with this lighting.
"Yeah, but first I'm goin to have to talk to Mephiles 'bout the weddin," says Kicker to the wolf.
"Ah. The wedding. How's that going?" asks the wolf.
As soon as they turn the corner, I dash off. I need to get out of here, and quick. Once Kicker goes to my room and finds me not in bed, he'll flip and all the alarms will go off.
Which will not be good for me and my escape.
In less then a minuet, I ended up at the servant's quarters. Matrix was where she said she would be.
We quickly hug, and without a word uttered, I start to fallow her. She leads me through some of the halls that I've never been in before, or I can't remember.
After a few minuets, we end up at a large janitor's closet like room. Inside was a bunch of pipes, big and small. They all lead to the walls, some in different directions from the others.
"I'm going to miss you Luna," Matrix whispers as she hugs me.
"I'm going to miss you too," I reply as I hug her tightly. "I promise, I'll be back for you."
"Don't worry about it. My life is here, it always has been. But you have your life ahead of you," she whispers back.
I pull out of the hug and smile sadly. She has a few tears in her eyes.
"I need to go," I say. "On the way here I heard Kicker say that he was coming to check up on me."
"Well then we better get you out of here," Matrix says as she pulls me over to a pipe that looked at least twice my size. She goes to the back of it, and pulls a sheet of metal off of it.
"It'll be like a slide most of the way, but at the end it levels out. Where it levels out, there will be water. Half air, half water. When it comes to the part where it's all under water, just hold your breath and swim through," she whispers quickly. "Got that?"
