Seoul.

Almond eyes as sharp as a lioness, gaze that can have you shrivelling on you knees, words she speaks crisp and calculated, the way she twists enough to have you manipulated. In the click of a finger, your fate is twiddled for the worse or for better. Her gait has heads turned and eyes popped, the way she carries herself is surely impeccable. Dazzling beauty with remarkable wisdom,

Ms. Kim Ivy, the Entrepreneur of the year.

I casually sit cross legged, turning over the glossy pages of the magazine. It wasn't a recent edition, maybe dated back to a year. A stone cold face adorned with a bright red lip gloss and a minimal stroke of an eye liner stared back at me. With a fair proportion of tan and almond eyes showcasing the distinct asian features, with plump lips that stayed lined up into a straight line, with cheeks not too flat but neither too chubbed, many died to have a glimpse of this woman, Kim Ivy, me myself.

The label I carried till now and would carry on if I wanted my life to hold the slightest of its meaning and dignity even after the events that crossed by.

Fate was what it was. It always had its cruel ways of twisting things and devoiding the happiness it held into empty holes of remorse. A bright child turned orphan at the age of fifteen. The mixed features accredited to the mixed up marriage of my parents, who were no longer in this world, leaving me in the clutches of the leeching family members who never gave up to claw their way to the lumpsum that was left under my name. My uncle and aunt, turned hostile and did everything they could, tormenting a wee teenager coping up with peer pressure and the burden of high school.

I flipped the page and stared at the typed interview.

As beautifully as they presented, the underlying bitterness still radiated through it. The world of billionaires could never expect a passerby to crawl their way up to the top, right in front of their highheld noses. They had their ways to twist the words and eventually break the person, somehow and anyhow.

I snort and throw it aside inside the drawer and swirl around to face the front.

My assistant, Mr. Park Jimin bowed and smiled in greeting. My nails tapped on the glass table impatiently. Taking the sign, he complied and clicked on his iPad.

"Meet with the investors at eleven. Presentation at four." I nod along and glance at my watch. It was already ten.

"Well enough." I stoically answer and flick open the laptop. "Go." He bowed again and sauntered out of the room. I didn't miss the gawking eyes of a few female employees as he politely threw a smile at them. One stare from me was enough to get them choking and back to work.

Park Jimin has been the only constant in my life since the past five years. Met as two broken souls, we mended and molded ourselves to what we were today, together. Call him the sunshine of my life, a bosom friend, but not till I could share myself with him. And I didn't know if I could ever share myself with anyone, for the only time I did, it had turned against me.

In high school, Kim Taehyung had come in as a ray of light into my dark life and he sure left his own impact, my first love. Happy smiles turned to broken heart shattered into pieces when he and Lee Jinae, the only friend I had, walked hand in hand while I clutched tight onto the unborn child in my tummy. Long story short, the child was aborted. And the leeches I called family had managed to slither their way slowly and steadily, until California welcomed me with open arms, with lumpsum I had in my hand.
