The young policeman seemed tired, almost as if he could end up sleeping in any near surface.
Yet, his hand had not left Taehyung's slightly thinner and slightly trembling ones.
"What did you find?" He asked, trying to sound awake. Jungkook's eyes were starting to become teary, too many hours being open and reading on a dark place. "What do you think?"
"I presume that Snow White was the one behind Jin's abduction when he was little. Her story makes sense and is similar to the statement made by the police during that night. Maybe, she was also behind the calls and violence surrounding all the mysteries. Obviously, she got rid of the arsonist, someone who started to deviate from her ways of life."
Jungkook shook his head, his fluffy and long hair moving side to side.
"I don't think she did it personally" He remarked. "I think that one of her minions, a wharf, did it instead of her"
The arsonist didn't write much about her. Taehyung supposed that she was a her, not a male, as Jin described her as a woman wearing a blue dress and who brought ice and darkness with her. She must had money, power and a high position in Seoul to be able to afford a whole house lost in the mountains. Money to be able to maintain more than seven "sugar babies".
Then, there were her minions. Snow White adopted lost children and turned them into useful tools. Said minions could be anybody.
Another answer was that Snow White also gave them new names, so they don't really knew each others names. She had enough power to obtain forged documents, so she must be really high on society to be able to do so.
"I agree" Jungkook nodded, wholeheartedly. "She is a monster, someone usually untouchable, someone who belongs to a higher place than us" He sounds distant whilst he thinks.
Taehyung shrugged.
"Not a monster" He mumbled. "There are worst people than her" His eyes met Jungkook's. "She is a crazed bitch obsessed with creating a real-life dollhouse" He stated, liking his lips. "Someone obsessed with beautiful people to collect and mold to her liking"
Jungkook stared at him, leaving his arm free. He felt sick and sleepy.
"What about the wharfs?" He asked, thigthening his lips and creating a little pout.
Taehyung breathed out.
"Dolls. Dangerous when given an order. As the arsonist said, their feelings towards SW changed with time. Some of them may be dead, others can be anywhere" He bit his thin lips, full of scratches. "They can be anyone, from you to Hoseok, or Namjoon, maybe Yoongi or Jimin" His sharp eyes focused on where the moon is hiding behind a gray cloud, starless sky full of pollution. "Possibly... Jackson"
Jungkook snorts.
"Jackson was a nice guy" He said, turning down Tae's last statement.
Taehyung smiles, 'i know something you don't' side smile.
"Jackson was not a good guy" He continues. "He was obsessed, followed Seokjin everywhere and was a famous fansite, until Bighit posted a job he took without hesitation, absorbing Seokjin's life like" He paused to breath, inhaling humidity and smoke coming from someone smoking somewhere near" -like a fucking vacuum cleaner and doing whatever he wanted with him" Taehyung closed his fists. "Bighit let some obsessed fansite to be close to Jin, share his space anytime and- "Tae looked at Jungkook, staring straight to his eyes" he could be one of the wharfs, he could be the 'one that got a mission'"
Jungkook remained silent, observing the starless sky.
"And you?" He asked, voice small. "You are also a fansite crazy in love and obsessed with Seokjin, what's different?" Jungkook looked away, looking down at the open notebook "What makes you different from Jackson?"
Taehyung smiled, thin lips stretched into a square smile. Eyes shining and alive.
Jungkook furrowed his brows.
"It's almost as if you are telling me that he is your soulmate"
Taehyung smile widened.
"I firmly believe so" Voice small, he added. "His power and control over myself could only be a miracle" He smiled "My little miracle"
Jungkook mind and thoughts ran miles per hour, overthinking.
Taehyung suppositions about Jackson could be a motivation for an homicide. Maybe jealousy could have caused an impulse to kill Jackson so he could supplant him, create a space in the model's life where he could apply and be close to him. Maybe they were investigating it wrongly, as even though Taehyung was his friend, the way he talked about Jin and his little theory about Jackson... it was quite posible for him to be able to kill him, throw the corpse deep into the river and pass it as a suicide, meanwhile waiting for a chance to become Jin's new photographer.
This new vision of what might have happened seemed possible and worth investigating. Jungkook felt conflicted, as in one hand, Taehyung was his best friend and companion for years meanwhile, his theory could be real and Jackson was a wharf or Tae could have commited a crime because of said theory. On the other hand, their friendship wouldn't let him do this to him. So Jungkook had to tell somebody, somebody who isn't conflicted by years of friendship. Somebody strong enough to investigate his best friend while he pretended that nothing was happening and look the other way.
His thoughts and the way he was thinking about Taehyung could be something worse than a betrayal. He really hoped to be wrong and Taehyung to be the one with the correct guessing.
He sighed.
He hoped for Taehyung to be clean and had nothing out of place. But he could be pretending. Everyone can be a puppet and he was the one to discover it. Suddenly, the world seemed a place full of hidden monsters awaiting to attack whenever Jungkook and his friends did a bad move.
He stared at Taehyung and smiled.
"Your theory might be correct" He said. "Let's investigate and see if we can find whoever is causing Jin (and us) such a bad time"
Taehyung tilted, smiling big.
"Oh, we are going to find her" He inhaled, staring ahead. "And-" He stopped, something dark passed through his eyes, vicious. It was just a second, so Jungkook wasn't even sure it happened.
"And?" He urged him to continue with his dialogue.
Taehyung looked again, into the starless sky. "Nevermind" He finished. "Let's go" He stood up from the chair of the convenience store and held his hand for Jungkook to take. "Let's go and start searching for the long and hidden red thread to take us to the dark and hidden house of the witch from Hansel and Gretel. Let's search for breadcrumbs that will lead us to the real culprits"
Jungkook took his hand, unsure, but ready to follow Taehyung (and investigate him at the same time). He just needed to find an alone time to contact his boss and tell him his findings.
What he didn't know is that at that precise moment, not far from there, his theory about Taehyung was being dismantled with someone's discovery.
But that's... an story for another time.
