56: The Dark Side of the Moon

Kit's POV

"Perhaps we can start from there?"

I can hear Wayo's voice quiver as he finish his thoughts, clearly he's been affected by my mother's murderous aura.

"Mother?"

I called her once, and it goes unnoticed. It seems like whatever she's been thinking off is clearly affecting her. I turn towards Beam and Phana, with a nod, asking them to leave the room. Phana is already having Wayo in his arm, calming the jittery boy.

"Is your office locked, Kit?" Forth break the silence. I shake a no before he continues, "We'll be waiting for you down there. Come, love."

I watch my friends walk out from the room and I notice how that man standing outside stealthily peering at my mom. I can see his face change upon seeing her condition and almost lift his feet to enter the room, but stop himself upon seeing me staring at him. He quickly bow to me before closing the door again.

Coward.

'Well, you did stare at him with your infamous stare. Its a wonder that he didn't freeze on spot. That's a strong one, Kitty.'

Agreed.

"Mother!"

This time she finally shows some reaction. A slight confusion flash upon her eyes as she sees we are the only ones presents.

"I think what we are going to talk next should be kept strictly within families. No need to air our dirty laundry to the public don't we?"

"Then what about him?"

The Queen understood the jest her son throws at her so she smash back with one of its kind. Her boy just reply...

"He's mine."

The Queen smirk upon hearing such proud declaration, before taking a deep breath. Straightening her composure, she begin her story.

"You do know how I got you, right?"

The Queen's POV

I took another deep breath as I watch his features harden with my question.

Yes, he knows.

I know he was eavesdropping my conversation with his Dada back then. Which is why he makes such decisions to leave the family.

"I'm the only child of Inochtare that manage to survive till adulthood. Father does have other child apart from me, from his mistresses, but none of them are boys. I'm not clear about what happen to them back then when one by one mysteriously died, either out of illness or some accident. Later, I found out that they were killed, by Father's order, since they were not boys. I survived, simply because I'm his legitimate daughter."

I take a short break, eyeing my son, trying to gauge his feeling on this. Seeing that I got none, I continue.

"He wants a son, an heir, a powerful heir to continues his empire and legacy. So I tried to become one. Back then, no matter how much he prevented me from joining his business, I tried my hardest to developed my own. I become the most successful businesswoman in the whole Asian region and my power grows stronger everyday. I might not be able to rival his empire, but at least, I thought, I have manage to change his mind over time, as he will applause and praise me from time to time. Little that I know..."

Kit's POV

Listening to the life story of your own mother is never easy, especially the one that you were disappointed at. But, I do admire her strength. She deserve to be called the Queen.

Yes, the Queen. That is her name in the Underworld. Right now my mother is still the most powerful woman in business world. The bright side of it.

I know about Dada's other daughters, my supposedly aunts. I discovers this just after I left the house. It seems like Dada's obsession with male heir has started since before.

"I was at my office when that happen. One of father's man enters and bring me something to eat. I never doubt him since that guy have been my bodyguard since I was small. Little that I know..."

I tighten my grip on Ming's hand as I watch my mother's eyes got lost within her memory. Pain grips my heart listening to the silent statement that seems to spell out what happen.

"The morning I wake up, it was inside my office's resting room. I might not remember anything but... Even with all the sign, I refuse to believe that someone that I trust my life with dare to do such things. Even after I saw the CCTV recording..."

"Mother... it's okay. You don't have to tell me this." I plead her to stop. In a way, I'm giving her the chance to stop hurting herself from remembering.

"The past is over. We still have a pressing matter on hand. Where can we find that... that guy?"

"You can't. I killed him."

Silence erupt with the sudden confession. The angel lower jaw significantly drop, unable to believe what he have heard while the devil, while holding his lovers hand, smirk in amusement.

"I personally stabbed him and sliced his throat after I found him." The Queen let out a slight smile as if she was remembering something amusing. "He have the nerve to run away and hide after he did that to me? I'm may not be as powerful as father, but I do have my own means of connection."

The Queen let out a heavy sigh, before adjusting her posture, looking back at her son and his lover. The angel has become so close on worshipping his estranged mother when the devil make a comment that startled them both.

"If that guy is already dead, how can that twin exist?"

Ming's POV

"Remember what the report says? The DNA need to be from both mother and father. Unless your father kept the body of his dead son-in-law for this exact purposes, there must be another explanation, right?"

It was highly impossible on what I'm suggesting, but it seems like it manage to get these two mother and son from going mushy together. I mean, I know that is my future mother-in-law, but we have some pressing matters at hand.

"Mother, who do you say that man was?"

My angel breaks the silence, still clutching my arms.

"One of my bodyguard. He's been with me since I was a little girl."

"Based on what I've been hearing so far, it is highly impossible for Elder Inochtare to just randomly pick a meet bodyguard to mate with you, his only daughter. Even if his purposes is to get an heir from you. Don't you think so?"

My angel turns to me, his eyes flashing in clarity, grasping what I've been trying to say. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw my future mother-in-law reacts the same.

Damn, how can their action be so similar?!

It looks adorable on my angel but it just look.... enchanting on her.

Fuck.
