Chapter 15
Weeks passed and I was certain that Draco and I were now on good terms. The project Hagrid gave us brought the two of us closer as friends. I had got to admit that Draco was nowhere near as bad when I met him on his sixth year.
"Check it out, two o'clock," Sapphire giggled like a sick puppy in love.
"There's nothing new," I sighed. "You always check him out every single day,"
"Why can't you see how charming he is?" Mable defended Sapphire and questioned me. "He's the only reason why I look forward to tomorrow, you know?"
I could not help but frown at what Mable had said because it just sounded so cheesy. Sapphire and Mable were still crushing on our D.A.D.A professor...hard. I could not blame them entirely. As I had mentioned before, he was handsome...but nowhere near as handsome as Draco.
"Look," I sighed. "Even if he's handsome, you won't find yourself in a relationship with him. He's a professor and you two are his students,"
"It's not like we're going to be stuck here forever," Sapphire pointed out. "We're in our seventh year. We're nearing to our graduation. By then, dating your former professor won't be considered as taboo. The only problem is the other seventh years who have the same idea in mind. Mable and I need to eliminate the competition,"
"At least Aeribelle is out of the question," Mable chuckled. "If she's into Professor McPhillips, she will be the hardest threat to eliminate,"
"Why is that?" I was clueless about what they were talking about. I was the hardest to eliminate if ever I was in the competition for Auris McPhillips's heart?
"Duh...?" Mable uttered in a matter-of-fact tone. "You're beautiful, Aeribelle. Even Sapphire and I are envious of you,"
"Yeah, right," I rolled my eyes. "Back to the topic, what if the two you have eliminated the threats? How are you going to fight each other, huh?"
"Uh—we haven't really thought about that yet," Sapphire smiled sheepishly.
"Well, you two figure it out," I stood up and was ready to leave. "I need to get the dragon egg from Draco,"
"Aren't you a little bit earlier than your usual time?" Mable observed. "You still have fifteen more minutes. What's the rush?"
"Nothing," I shrugged. "I'm just tired and I want to sit in the common room," I did not wait for their responses and made my way to the Slytherin common room. I could not possibly tell them that I was excited to see Draco because that would lead to a lot of questions.
Even I did not know the answer of why I was excited to see the blonde boy.
"Oh...it looks like luck is on my side," an irritating voice greeted me the moment that I had stepped inside the common room. "Never thought that I would catch you this early, Everheart,"
"What do you want, Parkinson?" I asked. She was sitting on the couch together with four of her friends. I had no idea of who were the four girls that she brought with her. Unfortunately, I did not really care. "And really...? Catch me? I'm not a criminal...at least not yet. If I was, you'll be my first victim,"
"Consider yourself as one," Pansy chuckled without humor. "It's a crime to steal other people's boyfriends by flirting with them,"
"For your information, I'm not stealing Draco," I defended myself. "There's no need to get possessive. He's all yours,"
"I'm not blind," Pansy stood up and walked towards my direction until we were now face to face. "I have eyes behind the shadows and my eyes are mostly here in the common room. You and Draco don't just work together in your project. You two talk,"
"And that's wrong because...?"
"Because he's mine, Everheart," Pansy smirked. Everything happened so fast when I felt her palm on my left cheek. "Does it hurt?"
"You stupid witch," I grabbed Pansy's hair and dragged her away from her friends. It was not a good idea because her friends circled around me and tried to pull me away from Pansy.
Pansy struggled to fight back and after a minute, she was able to pull away from my grasp entirely.
I tried my hardest to fight against the punches and the kicks that the stupid girls threw at me. I really tried my hardest...yet it was difficult since there were five of them and only one of me.
If only I could duplicate myself, I knew that this would be a one-sided victory.
"You really don't know who you're messing with, huh?" Pansy kneeled on top of me and slapped me on the face several times. "Stay. Away. From. Draco. Is it really that hard to do? Is it that freaking hard to do? You're a slut, Everheart,"
"And you're a pig," I spat.
My comment obviously made Pansy furious. She grabbed my hair and slammed my head on the ground two times and I was certain that I was bleeding.
"What in Blimey's name is happening here?" a familiar voice asked.
Pansy immediately stood up and took a step back from me. "D—Draco, this is not what it looks like,"
"Aeribelle! You're bleeding!" Sapphire's voice was audible from my left side. I looked over to my right and saw that Mable was also there with concern obvious in both of my friends' eyes.
"I know you're evil, Pansy, but I never thought that you would go this far," there was apparent anger in Mable's tone of voice.
"You did wrong, Pansy," I could not make out what expression Draco had on his face since I was struggling to keep my eyes open, but I could tell that he was disappointed at his girlfriend. "Five against one? Really? Is that how you play now?"
"She's stealing you away from me!" Pansy exploded. "She—"
"No one's stealing anyone from someone!" Draco reasoned out. I guessed that he could not maintain his composure anymore, not when his girlfriend was being a pain in the ass.
"Why are you on her side, Draco? Why are you protecting her?"
"It's because I'm in love with her, Pansy," Draco breathed out. "I—I'm in love with Aeribelle."
