Chapter 14

I did not talk to Draco after the both of us got the dragon egg. Before I left him in the forest, he reminded me that I should sleep with the dragon egg because he thought that child would be better off sleeping with the mother.

After my friends and I ate our dinner, I went to the common room to see Draco waiting there for me. "Ready to take care of our child?" he joked.

"A child who breathes fire? That would be awesome," I commented as I sat beside him. I took the dragon egg from his hands and placed it on my lap.

"Aeribelle...can I ask you something?" Draco looked serious and if he was not, I knew that I would have had made a snide remark to provoke him.

"What is it?"

"Don't think that it's funny how we always end up with each other?"

I did not answer him immediately. Now that he had mentioned it, I started to give it a thought...and he was right. The two of us always ended up being together, being partners in several subjects, being the Head Girl and the Head Boy and even when I turned back in time, Draco had approached me as a prat.

"Yeah. It is funny," I agreed. "Now, can I ask you something?"

"Go ahead,"

"Have you really changed? I mean, completely changed?"

There was no need for me to elaborate since Draco instantly knew what I was talking about. "Yes. I've caused pain to a lot of people...but I know that I've changed completely. You have no idea how cruel I was,"

"Trust me," I snickered. "I clearly have an idea,"

Draco looked at me weirdly like I grew a second head. "Wha—How? You just transferred here so clearly, you don't have any idea of what happened here before. You must have heard of it bu—"

"I went back to the past," I sighed. The last thing that I wanted to do was tell Draco about how I went back to the past and now, here I was.

"Don't tell me that that was the night when I...saw you crying in here?" he frowned. I knew that he did not want to make me remember the night that I had cried and slept in his arms until the morning.

"That was the night when I came back from the past to the present," I cleared. "The night when I saw what really happened to my parents,"

"Are you ready to tell me what happened?" I looked at Draco and saw concern in his eyes.

"My parents....they were death eaters," I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I did not want my feelings to burst out in front of Draco, not for the second time. "They were killed by a woman named Bellatrix," I noticed that Draco squirmed a little bit when I mentioned the name of the person who killed my parents.

"I'm sorry," Draco closed his eyes as if he was guilty of something. "Bellatrix was my aunt. I'm guessing that I'm part of why your parents got killed,"

"Did you know about it?"

"No," Draco shook his head. "I wasn't in each of my aunt's previous...endeavors,"

"Then it's not your fault," I flashed him a smile that obviously did not reach my eyes. I was not doubting what Draco had said. It was just the death of my parents still pained me.

"How did you go back to the past?"

"It's a secret..." I told him. I did not want to tell him that Professor McGonagall was the one who provided me with the time turner that would let me observe the Draco from the past. "...but I told you, I've encountered you in the past during your sixth year,"

"Hmm...what did I do?"

"You tried to hit on me," I chuckled at the memory. "You were so full of yourself that I punched you in the face right after that,"

"Did I fall down?"

"You fell down on your behind pretty hard," this time, I was laughing...and Draco was too. "The sorting hat was pretty smart since it sorted me to Gryffindor,"

"I was on my sixth year and I tried to hit on a Gryffindor?" It looked like Draco could not believe his ears.

*Flashback*

"I'm the Slytherin Prince, you should feel lucky that I'm talking to you,"

"And I do not feel lucky," I glared at him.

"Usually girls like you want to mingle with boys like me," he wiggled his eyebrows. "So what do you say...? What's your name?"

"You're such an ass," I told him.

"You have a good one too," before he could even comprehend what I just done, he was on the floor with a hand cupping his cheek.

*End of Flashback*

"That doesn't matter now. Yes, you've tried hitting on me before...but that doesn't matter because you've found someone you love, right?" I told the blonde. Draco looked taken back. It seemed like he was not expecting me to bring Pansy in the conversation. "Well, this is my cue to get going. Goodnight, Draco."
