The past three nights I've been experiencing a reoccurring nightmare except every night some small details are different than the previous night.
During the dream on the first night, I wake up to a soft tapping sound coming from somewhere in my room. I groggily glance around the room and listen intently. After a few minutes I finally figure out that it's coming from my window. I stare at the window confused.
Tap...tap...tap.
I hear the sound again with no visible source. The taps are slow and steady, nothing fast. I slowly crawl out of bed and creep towards the window. That's when I woke up.
The second night, I wake up to the same tapping sound. This time the taps were louder. In the dream I immediately knew that the taps were coming from my window. I climb out of bed, make my way over to the window and peer into the darkness.
Tap...tap...tap.
The taps were faster. As my eyes focused, a face as white as snow, slowly appeared like fog on the other side. The eyes were black and staring back at me. I slowly made out a hand with long boney fingers, its pointer finger resting against the window. Then there was that smile, a smile so wide it wasn't natural and it was filled with dozens of long, sharp teeth.
The hand moved.
Tap...tap...tap.
Then I woke up.
Last night the dream came back, this time I woke up to a cold breeze blowing through my room. I look at the window, it's open and the curtains are flapping around.
Panic began to fill my body, whatever that thing was the night before, it was in my room. I scan the room, searching for the pale creature. Then I spot it, smiling at me from the far corner of my room. It stands there slightly swaying as it's smile grows wider almost reaching both of its ears. I sit on my bed frozen in fear as the creature takes one extremely slow step after another, making its way towards me.
That's when I woke up.
Tonight, I was extremely hesitant on sleeping in my room but after a long hard day at work, I was exhausted and fell asleep quickly. I soon was awakened by quick, loud tapping sounds.
Tap, Tap, Tap.
I laid there and listened for it to do it again but all there was after that was silence. So, I rolled over, closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep again. That's when I felt it, three light taps on my forehead. My eyes fly open and right there in front of my face was the pale creature smiling at me with its unnaturally wide smile. Its finger still rested on my forehead. My heart fluttered rapidly as fear spread throughout my body.
Tap, tap, tap.
Its finger tapped my forehead again.
Tap...tap...tap.
This time I wasn't dreaming. This time I was wide awake.
Tap...tap...tap.
