"Allie! Can you come here please?" I heard my mom call me from downstairs.
"Sure, Mom. Where are you?" I asked as I walked out into the hallway.
"I'm in the kitchen."
I walked past my mom's bedroom as I headed towards the stairs. Suddenly I felt a pair of hands grab me. They covered my mouth to muffle my screams then pulled me into my mom's room.
"Shh. Don't go down there. I heard it too." A voice whispered in my ear.
Once I calmed down, I realized it was my mom.
"If it wasn't you, then who else is in the house?" I whispered as my mom let go of me.
"I don't know, sweetie."
