"Cassey, wait up!" I heard my brother, Carson, shout from behind me. We were running through the forest that's near the local park.

"Come on, slow poke!" I laughed. I ran faster, quickly ducking and dodging low branches. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Carson struggling to catch up, you would think a track team member would be able to keep up with me.

I turn my attention back in front of me just as a tree stump entered my path. I didn't miss it in time and it sent me tumbling to the ground. "Ouch!"

Carson knelt down beside me once he caught up. "Are you alright?"

I looked down at myself, the only major injury I could see was the two large scrapes on each of my knees. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"That's good, but that's what you get for showing off." Carson chuckled.

"Hey, I gotta show off to my big brother every now and then, right?" The two of us laugh while Carson helps me to my feet.

"Let's just get home, it's starting to get dark."

I walked alongside Carson as we began making our way home.

As we entered a clearing neither one of us had seen before, I spotted a large wooden structure on the other side. "What's that?" I stopped walking and pointed to it; Carson's gaze followed in direction I was pointing.

He studied the structure for a few seconds before responding. "Looks like an abandoned house."

"Let's go check it out." I said excitedly as I made my way over to the house before Carson could react.

"Cassey! We need to get home, the sun us setting quickly!" Carson yelled while he followed far behind me.

I stopped in front of the large house whose wooden frame was obviously rotting. The windows were broken and the front door was barely hanging by its hinges.

Carson finally reached my side and stared at the house.

"I dare you to go inside." I nudged him and smirked.

"Hell no." Carson shook his head, then turned and started walking away.

"I'll give you a hundred dollars!" I shouted.

He paused and turned back to face me. "Do you even have a hundred dollars?"

"Yeah, back at home in my piggy bank. If you go in for ten minutes, I'll give it to you once we get home." I bribed.

I heard him sigh. "Ok, deal." He jogged back towards me then kept going until he reached the front door of the house. "Start the timer."

I watched as he entered the house and I began the timer on my phone.

That was ten years ago and that was the last time I saw my brother.
