Have you ever experienced that heart pounding, muscle jolting, full-body twitch? You know, the one that happens when you fall from a high place in your dream?

My mother believed that it's just the reaction your body makes due to the dream. However, my grandmother always said that whenever you experience the twitch, it's because the angle of death attempted to take your soul but failed and ended up dropping it back into your body, which caused your body to 'twitch'. She also believed that the closer it is to your time to pass on, the more often you'll experience 'The Twitch'.

I didn't really believe her theory in the beginning. That was until my grandmother called late one night to say goodbye. When my mother asked what she meant, she simply told her that she's had been experiencing 'The Twitch' every night for the past two weeks. My mother didn't believe her and told her goodnight.

My grandmother passed away in her sleep that night.

Months passed after the passing of my grandmother and my mother and I slowly forgot about 'The Twitch'. That was until one night I jolted awake after feeling like I was falling in my dream. The memories of my grandmother's story came flooding back into my thoughts.

I tried to pass it off as just a dream and nothing to be afraid of. However, I too, began to experience 'The Twitch' every night that week, sometimes several times a night.

I began to worry for my safety and I told my mother about it. She didn't really want to believe that I was going through the same thing grandmother had before she died. Instead, she encouraged me to go out with some friends to get my mind off of it.

I did what my mother suggested and spent my evening at a bar with a few of my buddies. We had some drinks, we got drunk, a couple of us, including myself, threw up. Nonetheless, it definitely distracted me from thinking about 'The Twitch'.

On our way back to my house, I passed out in the back seat. Suddenly I jolted awake, nearly smacking my friend sitting next to me. They all laughed at me and the driver lost his focus on the road and veered into on coming traffic.

I died that night.

So did a couple of my friends. Luckily the rest survived with a few major injuries.

I believe my grandmother's story and I hope that the next time you experience 'The Twitch', you don't end up like me.

👻 Tell me in the comments if you have ever experienced "The Twitch" and what you think causes it. Do you think it's just because of the dream like the mother in the story did? Or are you more the like Grandmother and believe that there's something more paranormal or mysterious behind it?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!! 👻
