"Everything always makes sense around her. Why is it so impossible?" a twisted pit in your stomach.

Slow, sleepy breath. No more. No less. Be still.

"But I want to do it so bad," a sigh, "you can't keep me under this spell for long. I'll find out your secret. I will." a low snicker.

There's that familiar soothe of the blade. You know it like the back of your hand. A hatchet. But why? Where does the familiarity come from? No. Focus. You schedule your breathing in intervals. He can't know your awake. He'll go away.

"The boss should know. He's not telling me for a reason, and I'm gonna find out why. No one stops me from a kill. There's gotta be a- who's Lyra?" a scratch assumably on the back of the head.

You're getting too shaky. He's gonna notice. Slow breathing equals slow heart rate. You can do this.

"Oh, Lyra. My only friend. Please come back," exasperated sigh, "your baby brother needs you." he cries out and then a thud onto the bed.

He's crying. Why is he crying? Why do you feel the need to comfort him? Against your gut feeling, your eyes open.

"It'll be okay, I'm sure you'll see your Lyra again." you stare blankly before he picks his head up.

A neck crack. He cocks his head back to the other side and chuckles.

"Who in the hell is Lyra? Why would I wanna see her?" He stands.

"Y-you just mentioned her. You were just crying over her!"

"Over who?"

The blank stare gives you the signal to back off. You back into your pillows, and stay silent. The man stares a while longer, then simply jumps out your bedroom window.

Who is he? Why do you know him? The safety you feel slightly nerves you, but in no time at all, it's morning. You must have fallen asleep. Now what? You warily search your room, and observe the open window. So it wasn't a dream, then? The man was in your room, intruding. Your heart drops, and you decide to make a move to the police department.

Upon arrival, you immediately file a report about an intruder and assaulter with an assumed mental disorder. No way someone talks to themselves about a person only to forget it seconds later. Goosebumps rush down the back of your neck as an awareness alert. Someone was watching you. Turning around, you find nothing, but among the trees you have an uneasy feeling just with your mere glance. Regardless, the report is handed in, and you make your way home.

When you push through your front door, and break into a scream. The pools of blood surrounding the bodies of your family members littered the room, parts of their bodies had been hacked off like it was nothing, and their eyes in a permanent state of shock for eternity. Shakily, you call the police and first responders are sent on their way. You step away from the scene, and simply stare at the tree line of the woods. How is this a thing? Was it because of you? Because of your report? You weren't even gone for an hour, how did this happen? You begin to hyperventilate and grip at your head in hopes that something will save you from spiraling. The weight you feel on your heart and the feeling of choking up in extreme levels kept rising. You felt like you were dying. Your mind was spinning, and your breath ran short. The paramedics have to calm you down for the cops to even approach you. Every fragment of your life felt like it was being ripped away from you, and even as you're taken in for a checkup at the hospital, you feel empty. You feel as if your body is physically there, but your mind has traveled light years away into a state of empty. The doctors ask questions, and you can barely respond with yes or no. As a result, you're kept overnight. They discovered not only your state of shock, but the odd injuries you claim to not know the origin of.

During your night at the hospital, things felt very off. You'd see things in the corners of your eyes, yet focusing on them masked it. You would also hear subtle ringing once in a while, and the voice in the back of your head screamed to steer clear of the woods. As always, you trust that instinctive voice, but a part of you WANTED to go back. You couldn't explain the temptation, and found yourself staring for hours on end at the tree line.

Eventually, thoughts manifested in your mind, and not the good kind either. With everything happening, you knew you had to cry. Tears streak down your face, and you mutter to yourself. There's no reason to live anymore. Everyone you love is gone, and there's nothing you can do about it. From now on, every day would be more of a chore than it has ever been, and you can't help but feel helpless to that fact. It's about time you die, but only your family members were dead. Of course this would happen to you. You could have done something. Save them for your life. It would've been fair. The only solution to your problem seemed impossible given the circumstances. You had a big funeral and a suicide to plan, but it won't stop you from finding the culprit. You thought back to the man in your room, and immediately, your face turns sour. It was HIM.
