Chapter 5

A/N

OK, Ok, Ok, so I just turned my computer on after trying to fix the frizzy hair troubles (My plans to defeat the frizzy hair failed :P) and I was so surprized that I almost fainted (And I have fainted before so I do know what feeling faint is like :P) I had gotten one vote now you may laugh and say "One vote lol really she is flipping out over one vote" but really it means a lot to me so I desided I would post another chapter tonight because I am so happy and I am flipping out :P anyway keep up being awesome people :) love ya'll happy readings! <3 

I woke up rather startled because an arm that wasn't mine was wrapped around me (I knew it want mine because of all the golden hair on it) I followed it and it lead to just the person I wanted to see, James was asleep hugging me tightly after a few attempts I whispered in his ear “James its Christmas get up” and he sprung to life he sat up to see his arm around me as soon as he saw my face I felt a set of lips on mine I smiled and started to kiss back suddenly tightening my grip on his strong back and getting even closer to him then I realized that we had work and broke the kiss whispering to James “Come on we have work today” We got out of bed and ran down the stairs to see a small Christmas tree with stalking by the fire and gifts under the tree, not many but enough to make it a great day Mama and Papa smiled when we sat down on the couch and Mama handed me my stalking I pulled its contents out “Mama an orange where on earth did you find this they don't sell these at the markets” I said shocked to see the orange fruit sitting in the palm of my hand “With another person working we had enough” she smiled as I pulled out an apple and some pencils and pens “Mama thank you so much, you to Papa” I grinned then watched as James pulled the same from his stalking then Mama handed me one of the gifts under the tree I opened it and saw a large book on anatomy “Mama this will help me so much thank you” I said then she handed James a book labeled as Tom Sawyer he thanked mama the we each got a stamp album and a kit of stamps to add to it “Mama, Papa thank you so much” I said hugging them followed by James then I got dressed (James got dressed in the bathroom) and we suddenly were stopped by Mama and Papa they smiled and diverted us to the garage “No more running to work” Mama said as papa revealed a bike with two seats “Thank you so much you two are so kind” James said as I loaded our lunch and supplies onto the rack on the back and the basket in the front “I call the front” I said jumping onto the front seat and turning the bike around “thank you mama and papa” I said as we started to pedal down the road” We traveled so fast that we reached the hospital 30 minutes early, I walked into ward 2 with James and split going to the first room as he went to the second “Merry Christmas everyone” I said grinning at the bright little faces “Merry Christmas Miss Jones” the children replied “Who wants to open the presents” I asked and everyone shouted yes “Only one condition everyone who can walk walks to the tree” I said picking up Edwin and sitting him down at the tree one by one they got out of their beds and made their way to the tree sitting down and waiting “Who is the youngest” I asked and Paul raised his hand” so I handed him his first gift (donations from the community and the march of dimes) then handed everyone else their gift afterwards wrapping paper flew as they hastily opened their gifts everyone got at least one thing they wanted then each child had to pick up some scraps of wrapping paper and toss it in the trash. 

While we worked on our craft Mr. Anderson called me to his office over the announcements I walked in and he raced up to me “Elizabeth The midwifery called me this morning they wanted one of our best nurses to come and join them (the midwifery was an attachment onto the hospital) they only want you to work their for a month or two until one of their midwifes gets back your one of the best would you be tempted to give it a try” he said exited by the thought “Sure I am qualified in midwifery as well as nursing I suppose I can try it out but the children will miss me I must explain myself to them” I said “You will also be earning triple the amount you make here” he said pointing out its only for a while that I will be working their and not to get any ideas I agreed then headed back to ward 2 to say goodbye all the children looked up at me with their sad eyes, Joseph even started to cry, then Mary and luckily no one else started I hugged each one and told them to make sure Ruth looked after them then picked up my bag and headed off to be a midwife when I arrived across the hospital I was greeted by a blonde in purple uniform and a white apron “Hi I am Julie and you must me Elizabeth” she said shaking my hand and dragging me in the doors “you have all the qualifications I suspect?” she asked and I showed her my paperwork “Great I guess we better get started she said handing me a bag and pointing out the window at a silver bike I would be using to get from here to the house she skipped about then the phone rang she answered it writing down all the information needed “ok we will see you soon” Julie said dragging me outside (I had changed into the purple uniform) and we drove off on our bikes stopping at the address and hopping off parking them on a streetlamp and running inside (we knew we had the right address because we could here a woman screaming) We walked inside to see a man smoking and reading his paper I walked up the stairs and saw a woman clutching the bed frame yelling we inspected her then got to work until the baby was born it was a girl weighing just under 7.5 pounds I bundled her up and called for the woman’s husband who ran up instantly after finishing up we left and peddled back to the hospital I then called James on the phone in the midwifery “Elizabeth where are you?” he answered “I got transferred to the midwifery” I responded “your helping mothers give birth?” he asked “yeah interesting job actually I will only be working here a month then I’ll go back to ward 2 see you at home” I said “See you at home” was James’ reply before hanging up after cleaning the equipment Mary (the lady in charge who wasn't my friend Mary) handed me 3 whole dollars and sent me off across the hospital on a search to find James when I found him at Ward 2 I waved to all the children and dragged him off showing him the money I earned only helping birth one baby he was impressed at the amount then we went home on the bike “Mama I got transferred and I am making 3 whole dollars now” I yelled running inside and showing her the money Mama who wasn't the best with surprises passed out.

When she woke up she seemed happy about the money and gave us soup, when we finished we ran up stairs and suddenly James lips crashed onto mine “thats for leaving me in ward 2 all day” he whispered continuing to kiss me suddenly our kiss deepened and his kisses started to trail down my neck and onto my chest suddenly I broke it “James we cant one we are in my foster parent’s house and 2 we are not married and if this gets carried away, even if its only once I could have a baby” I warned he realized I was right and sat down beside me though we did end up just kissing for a while longer then we fell asleep with James’ arms tightly tied around me and his golden brown hair touching my face, in my dreams we were married and had children and were happy they were the best of my dreams.
