A/N ok hello again only a short chapter this morning as I can only write it while my mother is at church so I am speed typing and I may write another chapter later when I finish up all my work I have delayed it so I should really get working on it as it is due on tuesday :3 and of course the deep dark winter has started again because it is once again snowing but dont worry if it is like last year it will all be gone by May :3 I guess that next chapter will be the last chapter before El goes home so yeah :) vote/follow/comment/read I really couldnt of imagined that I would have gotten 48 reads in first week I posted this! Happy Readings folks <3
James’s POV
I suddenly got an idea and grabbed some paper I sketched for a hour or so then finished it even if my wife still wouldn't be having her baby for 7 and a half months I could still prepare a bit, I raced up the stairs and cleared out an old storage room grabbing some white paint and spending my whole day repainting the walls when I finished the room It was beautiful and later I would paint lines down it, when I had blue and pink paint. I knew El would come home to this and smile. I really did love her.
I decided when I wrote up the letter that I wouldn't include any hints about the nursery so she would get a surprise when she got home.
Elizabeth’s POV
I worked with the patients 7 out of the 10 new cases had been discharged but 1 of that 3 had both kinds of polio and had to be moved to an iron lung it seemed every day we got more patients but if I wasn't here all of the original patients would still be taking up all the space and these kids would still be at home suffering I suddenly got called up to the office by Mr. Martins.
“Hello Mr. Martins how are you this evening” I said politely
“Mighty fine Mrs. Smith” he said back
“So may I ask why did you bring me to your office?” I asked looking at a lost of patients that have came and left my ward
“Well I, and a few of the staff have noticed” he started
“noticed what” I said back to him
“noticed that you are going to have a baby” he said causing me to look down
“Is it that noticeable?” I asked
“Well not really but we are doctors and some of your collogues have worked in midwifery before” he laughed
“so then why did you call me” I asked still confused
“for all the work you have done plus the fact you are having a baby I think that we should double your current earnings” he said causing my jaw to drop
“Oh my goodness thank you so much” I said causing him to laugh
“well I guess you can go now” he said letting me leave the room with the biggest of grins on my face I ran up to the phone and called James
“James” I said when he picked up
“oh hello El how are you today?” he said
“great, just great” I said
“why so great?” he said confused
“well Mr Martins noticed that I was pregnant” I said
“And?” he asked
“he decided since I was doing so well with the children and because I was having a baby that they would double my current wage” I said excitedly
“thats great Its been a good day here to” James said
“And why is that dear?” I asked
“I cant tell you its a big surprise for when you get back home” James said with a laugh
“Fine, fine how is Annie?” I said thinking of the little grey cat
“She has found a habit of turning on the tap and drinking from it” he said causing us both to laugh
“Well ok I guess I should leave you now, bye” James said
“Ok Bye” I said hanging up
I walked up to my room and wrote in my blue journal then noticed I ran out of pages and searched the hospital for some extras I ran down the stairs and searched high and low I finally snuck into the ward and took some paper stuffing it into my journal trying not to wake the children up I left accomplishing my goal running back up the stairs and writing down some more entries.
After that I quickly collapsed into bed falling into a dream filled sleep thinking of everything I had been told.
