A/N:This will probably be the only chapter that will be Layla's point of view. I thought it would be fun to write Layla's point of view. Anyway enough rambling enjoy the chapter.
Layla's view:
"There." Jacobson pointed to the fountain that was placed in the middle of the old city. It didn't look bombed at all. It looked quite peaceful but it could be a trick."Alright stay here Jacobson and make sure that no one heads this way." I ordered slowly walking towards the fountain.
"It's too quiet. Normally you would hear the wind or something but nothing is making a sound." Five said turning his head left then to the right as if he was searching for something or someone. He was right,it was too quiet not even the wind could be heard which we could hear quite well considering the fact that we had a very selective hearing that allowed us to hear the quietest noise.
Closer up the fountain didn't even seem to be real it looked more like a hologram than an actual fountain. I wouldn't put it pass the Crows to make something like this a trick but I couldn't be fooled that easily nor could Five. Five grabbed a rock near his foot and threw it at the fountain. It went straight through and hit some stone on the other side.
"Huh looks like they haven't improved at all." Five chuckled. I had almost forgotten that he was taken to another island for some weeks.
"Five let's-" I was cut off by a bomb exploding right in front of us in the exact spot that the fountain was in just moments ago. I was tossed back my vision became blurry and everything seem to have gone silent for the moment. I turned my head only to see Five already standing up and running towards me. He pulled me up and away from the rubble that the bomb made.
"We have to get back to Jacobson. Come on." He yelled tugging me back towards where Jacobson stood waiting with other guards. I pulled out of Fives grip and pulled him another direction. He ran with me but we were blocked again. We tried another route but was blocked until we found an alleyway between two buildings. The alleyway was cool and it stunk like someone had recently died in there.
"Let's keep going; knowing the Crows they won't stop til they find us." Five ordered.
Everything finally came back into focus. We started heading down the alleyway so find an escape route when Five stopped short.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked stepping out from behind him. He didn't have to say anything because the sight before me told me what was wrong.
Johnny was lying in a pool of his own blood with arrows protruding out of his chest. His short and pants were torn and the harness that he was wearing when I sent him out was gone. Johnnys eyes held a look of bravery and fear. It was like he was trying to defend himself and he knew that he was going to die but he was afraid of it. Tears rolled down my face as I kneeled down and touched my hand to Johnnys face.
He was cold which meant that he had been died for a couple of hours. But,I knew that wasn't possible seeing as I sent him out only ten minutes ago but then again my kinds body's work different from humans and when we die our skin turns cold real quick. It's something to deal with our immune system or something I don't know. Only then did I notice the blood on my hands and the amount of blood that I was kneeling in. I felt hands on my shoulders pulling me up from the ground and into a fast walk.
I couldn't believe it. Johnny the boy that I had gotten close to , the boy who I had grown to love like a brother was dead. Dead. I was barely aware of where we were until Five let go of me. We were at the second entrance into the base and I was glad that we were close to home. I didn't want to think of Johnnys dead body anymore.
"Oy! What happened out there? Where's Johnny?" Johnnys father said walking up to me as we entered the base.At the mention of Johnnys name I started crying again and sunk to the floor. Five whispered into Johnnys father's ear but by the look on his face I could tell Five was saying that Johnny was dead.
