Five's Pov:
Athena mumbled in her sleep for the third time that night. She has been recovery from the incident slowly but surely. Dr.Jacobson said that she should wake up any day now. I'm scared though. I'm scared she won't be the same as she was before Ransom changed her.
I know she'll be traumatized from the experience but I hope her personality doesn't change. She was so sweet, so caring, so loving. I would go to hell and back just to hear her mutter my name just once. I closed my eyes and tried to get comfortable on the sofa that I've been sleeping on for the past four days.
Athena stopped muttering in her sleep and went silent. I breathed out and tried to sleep. Sleep wouldn't come. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get to sleep. I need her. She would help me sleep;I know she will. But, I don't want to cause her any pain or harm.
I tried to deny the feeling of need but it wouldn't budge. It was there like a sore thumb. Sighing I got up from the bed and went over to Athena. She looked peaceful. Broken but peaceful. I moved her aside enough so that I had room and she wasn't crowded against me.
It felt good to have her in my arms again. It soothed the feeling of need, nurtured it, calmed it. I fell into a deep slumber seconds after wrapping my arms around Athena's waist. I dreamt of a snowy morning and waking up to Athena in my arms. I felt soo happy in the dream that I thought it was real when I woke.
But seeing Athena still asleep and her face clouded with thought or something;the feeling of happiness vanished. I was glad to get her back don't get me wrong but I felt like she wasn't really here. I knew she was here but she really wasn't here. I mean like her soul wasn't there, the life she had wasn't there. She was still Athena, I know she was but what happened?
I want her to be safe and happy. That's all I want for her. She squirmed in my grip and yelped rubbing her wrist in pain.
"Shhh it's okay baby." I whispered in her ear.
She hummed and snuggled closer to me which put a smile on my face. Her first reaction to me in days. It filled my heart with soo much joy. A smile appeared on her face and she whispered, "I love you. Always did."
I don't know if she was talking to me or what but it put an even bigger smile on my face.
"Five?" She whispered.
"Yes?" I responded knowing full well she couldn't hear me.
She turned around and opened her eyes and said , "Surprise!"
Shock filled me and happiness covered my heart. I couldn't say anything I was so surprised. She was awake. She was talking. She was looking at me. Her eyes were blue but her wings were still white and black. She smiled and laughed. That sound was as beautiful as the sweetest flower.
It filled me with such joy I couldn't even begin to explain how happy I felt. A frown appeared on her lovely face.
"What? You're not happy to see me awake?" She asked.
"No I am believe me I'm soo happy right now. I just don't know what to say." I breathed.
"How about hello?"
"Hello baby."
Athena blushed and hid her face in my chest. I chuckled.
"Hey I'm gonna let you rest, you need it."
"No don't leave." She pouted.
"But you need rest honey."
"I'll sleep if you stay." She bargained.
I smiled and said, "Fine."
