"I'm gonna set up a schedule: who picks him up in the morning, who takes him home after school, nightly check-ins. If we spread it around, it's actually not that bad." Clay explained to a circle of his friends as he placed an iPad with a chart on it. "I can send you guys the URL. It's password protected."

Jessica took the iPad from him to look at it. "There's the insanity of us doing this at all, and then there's the insanity of 'oh my god, you built a website'." She chuckled as she spoke. Elizabeth smirked as Justin wrapped his arm around her.

"I didn't build it per se. It's just kinda storage space." Clay explained himself further.

"It's a lot of coordination." Alex looked at the iPad in Jessica's hands. "It makes my brain injury hurt."

Cyrus moved to the edge of his chair. "How long do we have to do this?"

Elizabeth looked up at Clay. "I guess, until he gets better." She shrugged.

"So... forever." Jessica crosses her arms over her chest.

"People do get better." Justin smiled as he looked down at Elizabeth. "They do." He pressed a kiss on her cheek.

"I guess, we get to summer and then see how he is." Clay looked down at his hands as he spoke. "And, maybe by senior year, it'll be fine."

Elizabeth sat in the library during her free period annotating a book for her English class when Clay and Ani sat down across from her. "God, what do you two want?"

"Did Zach say anything about Bryce being the one who hurt him during the game?"

Fuck.

Elizabeth decided it would be a good decision to lie to the pair. "No." She shook her head as she shut her book. "He said, he didn't know who it was." Ani and Clay exchanges looked before Clay shoved his phone into Elizabeth's face. On the phone was a picture from the fight that broke out during the homecoming game. It was clear that Bryce was about to jump at Zach's knee. Zach was fucked. "He probably just didn't get a good look at him." Clay frowned before swiping to the next picture. Bryce was standing over Zach who was clutching his knee. Zach was looking at Bryce's face. "He didn't say anything to me, and Zach tells me everything, okay? He wouldn't lie to me about this."

Clay squinted his eyes at his sister. "You will always lie for your friends." Clay leaned across the table. "And, I can tell that you're lying now."
