"Okay, you guys!" Courtney Crimson shouted in her Katy Perry costume, crossing the gym. "Looks like we've narrowed down our finalists." She was announcing the costume contest. "We're going to choose the winner by applause. The costume with the most applause takes home two hundred smackers!" The crowd cheered, obviously excited to vote.
Elizabeth looked over at her boyfriend, who grabbed onto her hand. The two of them were, of course, finalists.
As Courtney passed by all of the finalists, she announced them, seeing who would get the most applause. When she called out Justin and Elizabeth, the audience erupted with applause. Elizabeth smiled as she looked up at Justin, and he wrapped his arm around her, obviously happy for once.
When Courtney finished, she crossed to the middle of the gym court. "I think we've decided on our winner!" She smiled before turning around. "Justin and Eliza!"
Elizabeth laughed as she wrapped her arms around Justin, pulling him into a hug. He kissed her forehead.
There were whispers from the crowd, for example "They're so in love" and "oh my god! Endgame!" Clay Jensen just rolled his eyes, not understanding the hype. Sure, they were cute, but his sister was dating an asshole. Clay knew Eliza deserved way better than Justin Foley.
Elizabeth frowned as she watched her brother get up and leave the gymnasium. "You okay, babe?" Justin asked her, furrowing his eyebrows.
"I'm perfect." Elizabeth nodded.
After the pep rally, Jessica Davis approached her best friend with a wide smile spread across her face. "Congrats, babe!"
"I mean, I won a costume contest." Elizabeth chuckled. "It's not like I won the fucking lottery."
Jessica laughed as Justin walked over to them, snaking his arm around his girlfriend's waist. "And here we have the second half of our winning team. Congrats to you, as well, Justin."
"Thanks, Jess." Justin nodded.
"I'm really happy for you two." Jessica looked between the two people standing in front of her. "I think that both of you have been through a lot, and you deserve to find happiness in each other."
"I love you, Jess." Elizabeth wrapped her arms around her best friend, pulling her into a hug.

Elizabeth Jensen stared down at her phone, trying to figure out who the two girls kissing were. She frowned. She simply couldn't do it.
