"I just don't think you should skip the tour. It's mandatory." Justin Foley spoke to Clay Jensen as him and his girlfriend walked hand in hand through the parking lot of Liberty High School.
Clay scoffed. "Since when does the word 'mandatory' mean anything to you?"
Elizabeth Jensen looked up at her boyfriend. "What Clay meant to say but failed to was that our dad's been teaching at Sanderson since we were eight years old. We know the whole campus."
"But this is about going to school there." Justin explained himself. "Maybe you might do that, Clay."
"No." Clay frantically shook his head. "That would make my dad too happy. And it's too close to home. I need to get out of this town."
"And why are you looking at Sanderson when we have Occidental?" Elizabeth furrowed her eyebrows as she spoke.
Justin shrugged. "I'm not in yet." He, then, smiled. "Plus, I like the idea of Sanderson being so close to home."
The girl laughed as she stopped walking. "Aren't you the same person who said college is for people who couldn't get a job?"
Justin chuckled, nodding. "I didn't think I was good enough. I didn't think I deserved a future before." Elizabeth frowned as she took his hand and kissed it before the three started walking towards the school again.
"Wait, wait, wait." Clay's eyes widened. "You never thought you were good enough? You were always such an arrogant asshole."
"Clay doesn't mean that."
"Yes, I do."
Justin sighed. "Yeah. Those are probably related."
They stepped into the line to go through the metal detector to enter the school. When they reached the front, all three were cleared, so they took back their backpacks. They noticed a crowd of students standing in the hallway, and Justin pushed through to the front with Elizabeth and Clay close behind him. Elizabeth froze when she saw what everyone was staring at. Someone had spray painted 'Monty Was Framed' on the entrance into the school office. "Don't freak out." Justin whispered to Clay, who was staring at the paint.
"Why not?" Clay questioned, not taking his eyes off the doors.
Elizabeth looked over at Alex Standall and Jessica Davis, who were also looking at the paint. "What the fuck?" Alex whispered. "Who did this?"
"No fucking idea." Jessica responded.
Zach showed up behind the pair. "Holy shit, the admin doors." He chuckled, leaning his hand against the wall. "Respect."
