ARC 1: Family Connections

~Meliodas's POV~

"Just why were you so late, Meliodas? I told you your damn curfew and you couldn't even do that."

I knew what was coming. I was used to this. Zeldris and Estarossa were the loved sons. I, on the other hand, was the disgrace of a son, as he said.

"I'm sorry.." I say. I don't know how to respond.

He doesn't respond to my apology, but instead walks away coldly. He pulls on a happy face, whilst walking over to his real family. My mother, Zeldris, and Estarossa.

My mother loved me, though. She did not agree with this constant abuse. But my father is the leader of this household. Anyone who rebels by his rules are basically demanding for a death wish. I still rebelled. I wasn't going to have my life controlled by a man with past beliefs.

I hear thruds up the stairs, as I lie on my bed, deep in thought about what would happen if I ran away. I couldn't do that to mom and Zeldris, though. I loved them too much to do that.

It's Estarossa and father, I can sense their aura. I hear a door creek open, as I look up to see the two disgusted faces, of both family members who despised me.

Estarossa gives a cold chuckle, with an evil grin, whilst my father walks closely towards me. Tears were filling my eyes. I didn't know what was going to happen. I was sick of all of this.

"So...you're late for curfew because you beat your own BROTHER up over some girl?? Didn't you say you weren't going to-"

I interrupted him. Enough of his games.

"She's not some girl. She's my friend..and Estarossa was doing nasty things to her. Father, it was the only thing I could do-"

"Are you trying to put disgust on my name? We LIVE upon this abuse. Abuse is OUR middle name. You're just like your mother. Weak, useless, and pathetic. You're lucky I love her enough to not throw you BOTH out the house." is all my father could say.

"I just don't agree with harming an innocent girl, for the sake of his fetish, or whatever the fuck he was doing. I'm leaving, I can't stand this." I say, grabbing a prepared suitcase, for this very day. I was going to leave. But where do I go??

I could go to Bans house for the night, but he's most likely passed out drunk. I'd think of that later, though.

I storm downstairs, and say goodbye to mother and Zelly, as they still mean the world to me, and slammed the door as I left. Time to call Ban.

I ran as fast as I could, so nobody could catch me. I go on my phone, then try to ring him, whilst still running.

No answer.

Shit, maybe again? No, that didn't work.

King and Elaine definitely wouldn't have spare rooms. Their house is filled with mini fairies, it's like a hotel.

I call Diane.

"Hello?" she asks.

"It's me..Meliodas. I ran away from home and I need a place to stay. You free??"

"I'm at a sleepover with Elizabeth, in my house. Come over, I have a spare room." she suggests, with a concerned tone.

"On my way." I say, panting, as I run to Diane's house.

~Diane's POV~

Captain (Meliodas), is coming over to our sleepover. I wonder why he ran away? He did tell us his father wasn't the nicest but he'd never run away? Things must've been rough.

Me and Elizabeth weren't doing much, anyways. Just relaxing, until he called.

Suddenly, we hear the doorbell ring, and we both rush down to answer it. Both of my parents are out for the night, so it should be fine.

We greet each other, then go inside. I swear, he was all happy again now? Weird. On the phone, he sounded like he was in so much pain, I could sense it.

"So what do yall do on these sleepovers??" he asks.

"I dunno just whatever I suppose." I respond.

"Cool." he says, casually. He could not take his eyes off Elizabeth, I swear.

"So...excuse me if it's private, but why did you run away?" Elizabeth asked. She's in for it now. Captain never likes people getting too personal.

He looked at her, and started to explain the story. Unbelievable.. I thought to myself. She was like the key to his happiness again. The spirit the rest of us were trying to find for him all this time, was in my best friend?

"It's a long story but my father, well, he's not the nicest man. He doesn't believe in love or kindness. We have to abide by the rule which is to be vile to all other earthkind. However, me and my mother disagree with this rule. My mother always gives in, though. My father scolded me for being late, like always. Estarossa kept chuckling at me for being told off. My other two brothers are adored. I'm not. When I went upstairs...a....big....argument happened.." he trailed off, tears filling his eyes. He then inserts his head into Elizabeth's shirt, bursting out crying.

The fact he opened up to her so easily took me by suprise. I felt bad for him, but I couldn't just interrupt this moment, so all I do is listen in more.

"He agreed to Estarossa hurting you, Elizabeth....Estarossa told him all. But...I promise, if anything else happens, I will be there. I will protect you. Okay?" he says. All his tears have disappeared, a serious look in his eyes. They're still after her, aren't they?

"O-okay...Meliodas...I'm sorry for all of this. That's awful. The fact you had to go through such a thing. My mother...she was similar. But enough about me, you need rest." she said softly, which made him look up at her in curiosity.

"Thank you..Elizabeth." he says, with a wide grin. What the fuck just happened?

They then both look at me as if they realised I was still here.

"Oh, hey Diane." the captain greets, cheerfully.

"Tsk. You guys were really cute just cuddling up to each other opening up with your stories." I tease to the both, giving them a wink.

Elizabeth goes red as a tomato, as always. Meliodas ACTUALLY BLUSHES.

I take a picture of the two, as they get pretty annoyed at me.

"First time you blushed in ages, captain. Can't waste the moment~" I tease again, giggling.

"Whatever Diane, go make out with your boyfriend now." Meliodas said, ticked off.

After all the jokes and all, we decided it'd be time for bed. A nice peaceful night, especially for the two "lovebirds." I ship them soo much! But I don't expect them to actually get together on their first day of meeting.
