Author's note: I wrote this somewhere between 3am and 5am since I couldn't sleep anyway, I hope it doesn't affect the story poorly. Again appologies for the slow updates and thank you for reading this far into the story!

Varian was not to be found in his lab all day, which did not please the king who went on a personal surprise visit. Angrily king Fredric returned to his wife. "Dear is something wrong?" queen Arianna asked her distressed husband. "That alchemist of yours is no where to be found" king Fredric answered. "Where have you looked  for him, aside from his lab, otherwise you can't claim that he is 'nowhere to be found'" the queen giggled. "I uhm." King Fredric leaned out of the room's door and called out to a guard. "You, go find me the alchemist!" He ordered.

"Is there a problem your highness?!" "No, I simply need to know where he is, report back to me when you find him." The soldier looked rather confused before answering with a "yes your highness and left. The king and queen waited in silence for the guard's return.

It only took a few minutes for the guard to return. "Varian is in the kitchen your highness" the guard reported. "The kitchen?" The king asked questionly. "Yes your highness, he seems to be preparing dinner food and desserts and such. King Fredric looked confused at the guard who nervously stood in the dooropening. "Thank you, you are dissmissed" queen Arianna smiled. "Thank you, your majesty" he saluted and left.

"You seem to be more aware of what this means then I do?" The King suggested. "Yes dear, our lovely daughter keeps me up to date with the palace gossip and I have a keen eye of my own" she said. Fredric raised an eyebrow. "And I don't?" That question was only answered with a smile. "Alright enlighten me please" king Fredric sighed. "Well our royal alchemist as a crush on a certain lady in waiting in our palace and I believe he succeded in asking her on a date. This is the short summary of it" queen Arianna explained.

"So he is just preparing for a date?" Arianna nodded. "So I was worrying for nothing?" "Yes dear." The king sighed. "Just trust him dear, he may be an unique individual, but in the end he's just human like all of us" "I suppose you're right" the king smiled and gave his wife a kiss on the cheek and left to do some work.

In the kitchen, just after lunch was over and the dishes done, Varian reclaimed all the counter space he could get for himself. He continued baking and frying food he started on that morning. Rapunzel walked in the kitchen, obviously just for gathering some afternoon snacks for later. "Oh hey Varian, did not expect to see you here?" She said with a hint of question in her voice.

"Oh Rapunzel hey hey ah you will not believe this!" Varian exlaimed "What is it?" Rapunzel asked excited. "I have a date with Cassie tonight!" Varian cried. "Aaah no way you did it! I'm so happy for you!" Rapunzel cried and gave him a hug. "So what are you planning?" Rapunzel asked curious to know. "A dinner date" Varian smiled. "Where?" "Haha princess, I'm not going to tell you or I might have you or one of your associates trying to spy and potentionally ruin my date, nice try" he laughed. "Darn it" Rapunzel laughed back.

"You could've also gone for a boat ride, worked very well for me and Eugene" Rapunzel suggested. "True, but I don't want to seem like a copycat" Varian said. "Fair." "Besides I want to show of my cooking skills, you know honestly I'm still worried that Cass might still see me as a child, so I want to show what I'm capable of!" Varian exlaimed. Rapunzel smiled. "Don't worry, I'm sure it's not like that, besides if your food tastes as good as it smells, you'll have nothing to worry about" Rapunzel winked and grabbed some snacks from the cupboard. "Thanks Raps" Varian smiled, which Rapunzel returned before leaving the kitchen.

After a few hours Varian finished cooking and stored everything safely away, so no one could get to it. He even stuck a note on it warning people not to eat his food. He left for his room to find everything he needed for tonight. First a big basket of course to store the food in, something his mother left him, he never thought he would ever use it untill this day. He also got some candles with some saucers it didn't look that great, but he didn't want to be responsible for setting the forrest on fire. He also grabbed a fluffy blanket they could sit on and of course the little raccoon plus, couldn't forget the little critter now. Dishes and such he would borrow from the kitchen.
