"Soooo..... Thanks again for helping me out. I tend to stick out when I'm away from home."

I smiled ruefully and gestured to my outfit. I was wearing an old pair of jeans and a tank top under one of Logan's old plaid button-ups. My feet were snug in my worn-out cowboy boots and my hair was going down my back in a French braid.

"Don't worry about it. Plus I think it's cool you didn't try to change to fit in around here. Individuality is refreshing."

Damian smiled at me and I couldn't help but return it, just like every other time he'd smiled at me in the past ten minutes. After he'd bought lunch for both of us, we ate in silence other than occasional comments.

"Thanks. So where are you from?"

Before he could answer, I heard my name being screeched over the noise of the crowd. I looked over Damian's head and saw Bree storming towards us with an exasperated look on her face.

"Oh my God! There you are! I thought you died. Oh, I'm sorry. Who's yo-"

Bree stopped mid-sentence when she caught sight of who was sitting across from me.

        "D-Damian...."

Damian looked a little flustered to see Bree. Apparently they knew each other, causing me to glance between them, utterly confused.

        "Uh, hey Bree...."

"I thought you were going to New York."

"Uh, yeah, I thought it'd be better to stay close to home."

I decided to break up their moment and cleared my throat awkwardly.

"Umm. I hate to interrupt, but how do y'all know each other? Because I'm completely confuzzled."

Bree blinked and looked at me as if she'd forgotten I was there. She opened her mouth to answer but Damian beat her to it.

"We went to the same high school and dated our Junior year. How do you two know each other?"

I didn't comment on Damian skipping over the fact that he and Bree dated and instead answered his question.

"She's my non-bitchy roommate. The other two are part of the bitch brigade that ruined my lunch."

His curious look turned into a scowl and he glared across the room at the Barbie-wanna-be's. I looked at them and found all of them, including my roommates, glaring at me. I just shrugged and chose to ignore them. Being best friends with Logan had payed off. He'd been the most popular guy at our high school and I always got hate from the girls who wanted to be with him. I'd learned to ignore it after a while.

        "Sooo, this is awkward."

The sound of Damian's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I glanced between him and Bree, contemplating whether or not to ask about them now or wait until we got back to the dorm to interrogate Bree. Deciding on the latter, I stood and grabbed my tray of trash.

"Thanks for lunch Damian. I guess I'll see you around."

I didn't give him a chance to answer and just left him sitting there in a daze as he watched me walk away. Hopefully, I'd see him again. He was really nice, and hot too.
