I woke up with a groan to the sun in my eyes. My oh-so-lovely best friend had opened the curtains to my window that happened to be right next to my head. I looked at my clock and glared at him.
"Wanna explain why you're waking me up at 8 o'clock in the freaking morning?!"
He simply grinned and responded with, "I'm hungry and don't wanna go alone. You, my fine friend, are coming with me."
My glare intensified, but I sighed and got dressed anyways. I threw on my black wife beater and a pair of dark gray jeans with my black Vans. I grabbed my phone and met Ty out in the hallway. Without a word, we started walking towards the student union.
As soon as we walked in, Ty gasped and rushed over to some random table. Upon further inspection, I saw Allie and I couldn't help but grin. By the way she was dressed, I was guessing Bree had woken her up.
Ty stood behind her and said, "Darling it's lovely to see you again!" in his super-gay accent.
I rolled my eyes and walked over just as Allie said, "Sugar, your gay is showing again." He just shrugged and she smiled that adora- wait, what? Control yourself Damian.
I smirked as I spoke. "I'm hurt Allie. You hug my gay best friend before you hug me. I see how much I'm appreciated." When she looked at me, I pulled her from Ty, feeling strangely possessive. I wrapped my arms around her waist and felt a ping of satisfaction when she seemed to relax and fit perfectly in my arms. She was so small compared to me, and it felt so right holding her like this.
My thoughts were interrupted by Ty saying, "Who is this fine hunk of a man?" I looked at Ty and saw him eyeballing someone. Following his gaze, I saw a man even I found attractive. He seemed like your typical southern farm boy; cropped sandy blond hair, tan skin, muscular, wearing a red plaid flannel shirt with a white undershirt, worn jeans, and cowboy boots.
I tensed. What if he's her boyfriend from back home? Shit.... Well there goes my chance.... I barely heard what Allie said due to my mind racing. But I did see Ty pout out of the corner of my eye. I knew I was being rude but I didn't care.
Once Allie began talking, I focused on her voice. "Logan, this is Damian, a friend," 'A friend? I see...' "and Ty, his gay best friend. Damian, Ty, this is Logan, my best friend." At that I felt relief, but it still hurt that I was just "a friend".
Ty shook Logan's hand, still eye-raping him. I just nodded; I don't like new people- especially men- and I was still hurt by Allie's words.
"It's nice to meet y'all." His voice was deep and accent thick. It only added to his southern appearance. I wasn't 100% sure why but this man made me jealous. Maybe it was his closeness to Allie? Or how girls' gazes that usually locked onto me shifted to him? I didn't know.
While Allie caught up with Logan, I slipped away. Not even Ty knew I left. I needed to cool off and distract myself from Logan and Allie and all that drama. I stopped by my dorm and grabbed my acoustic before heading to the woods at the edge of campus. At the center was a big, beautiful lake I found the other day. It was calm and serene and perfect for calming myself.
I sat on a rock near the edge of the water and began playing a random time on my guitar. I stayed there for hours. By the time I got up, the sun was beginning to go down and I was starving. As I walked back to my dorm, I called an ordered a pizza.
As I walked into my dorm, I felt my phone buzz and heard the familiar tune of 'Can't Hold Us' by Pentatonix (so I'm a fan, sue me). I pulled out my phone and checked my messages to see I had a text from Allie.
From: Allie~
Hey, are you okay?
I sighed. I had been hoping she wouldn't ask this.
To: Allie~
Yeah. I'm fine. Why do you ask?
I put my guitar down in my room as I got a reply.
From: Allie~
You seemed a little but off earlier when we ran into each other I. The student union. I was just making sure everything was okay.
I instantly felt bad. I had to make it up to her. I got an idea and replied.
To: Allie~
I'm fine. Nothing to worry about. So I was wondering if you wanted to go get some coffee with me. We haven't really had a chance to hang out properly.
I got an almost immediate reply.
From: Allie~
Sure. Where?
To: Allie~
Corner Brew. 20 minutes.
And with that, I walked out, told Ty and the others about the pizza and left, ignoring Ty's questions of where I had been and where I was going. I jumped on my motorcycle and rode to the little shop to wait for the crazy country girl to arrive.
