jensoo - falling in love at a coffee shop

'jennie you're late, again!' irene yelled at jennie as she scrambled to put on her apron. 'yes unnie i know,  im sorry! rosé was sick last night i couldn't sleep knowing she was in pain' jennie said bowing slightly to her boss. irene sighed as she knew jennies current situation, 'alright, just, try not to make sure being late doesn't become a permanent thing okay?' irene said before waving jennie off. 'i got it, i'll try not to be late again' jennie said before walking to open the store.

three hours into her shift, jennie shifted her eyes to the door. it was relatively quiet for 11am on a wednesday, but like clockwork, jennies favourite customer walked in. jennie smiled and immediately got to work on the customers order that she knew by heart. 'morning jisoo, the usual?' jennie said, putting the lid on the coffee cup.

'yes please jennie, hows today been? busy?' jisoo replied stopping in front of the counter. jennie slid jisoos coffee cup over at her and shrugged. 'ehh, not that busy for a wednesday, it's quite quiet really.' jennie replied smiling at the older girl. 'ahh well i'm sure your boss won't mind you taking a break now then? have an early lunch with me jennie?' jisoo asked hopefully, leaning her elbows on the counter. jennie smiled and whipped around the counter to irenes office.

'irene? can i take my break now, it's really quiet, i'll bring you something back?' jennie asked with a sweet smile. 'yes, i suppose you can, can you bring back a iced coffee and a BLT?' the older woman said tapping away on her laptop. 'irene, we work in a coffee shop, you can get an iced coffee for free' jennie sighed rolling her eyes before chucking her apron onto the rack. she turned to jisoo and smiled. 'let's go shall we'

'jennie you're late again- jennie?! what's wrong?!' irene spoke hurriedly, rushing to jennies side. 'it-it's rosé.' jennie mumbled through the tears threatening to spill. 'why jennie? what's the matter?' irene replied, sliding down the wall with jennie in her office.

'she- rosé. she's,' jennie stuttered, looking up to irene, 'she's what jen?' irene spurred jennie on. 'she's dying and it's my fault' jennie said as the tears started rolling down her cheeks. irenes eyes widened as she cradled jennie close to her. 'oh jennie, why did you come in?' irene said to herself more than she did to jennie. 'she wanted me to, she didn't want me to stay at home while she fought for her last breath.' jennie sobbed.

'then who's at home with her?' came from irene

'the doctors are, the doctors are staying with her until shes gone. mom and dad are there too, they didn't want me there because she's in that situation because of me!' jennie said, taking the tissues from irene. 'jennie it's not your fault, it never was.' irene spoke softly, helping jennie up into the office chair.

'i'm not letting you work today, im going to call in lisa and she'll work your shift. you are going to sit here until your usual 11am crush comes to collect you.' irene said playfully making jennie smile slightly. 'i mean it jennie, you're not working. sit here with seulgi until jisoo comes okay?' jennie sighed but nodded, she couldn't go against her unnie words even if she tried.

'hey, chin up chicken. you wanna help me with my shopping? irene is in work mode so i'm a bit stuck?' seulgi said, patting jennies knee. jennie nodded and wheeled herself to the other side of the desk. 'anything to keep my mind off rosé.' she muttered taking the mouse from her boss' wife. 'it'll be okay jen you know that right?' seulgi said scanning the screen. jennie just hummed in response before clicking random items.

'jennie, jisoos here, do you want me to tell her or do you want to?' irene spoke from the office door. jennie sucked in a breath and shook her head. 'i'll tell her, thankyou irene for this, everything actually.' jennie said, hugging irene before making her way into the coffee shop.
