Pearl PoV
I was in my room for about 10 minutes before it became apparent to to me that something was wrong with Amethyst.
At first it was a small sign- a quiet "no" that she moaned, almost whispered.
But I fell silent the second I heard that "no". I glanced down at the depths underneath my room...
The extension to Amethyst's room.
I was completely silent, listening.
Hoping that Amethyst was okay... but needing more information.
"N-no, stop... p-please... help..."
I winced. Amethyst was talking in her sleep.
She was having a nightmare, by the sound of it.
"A-Amethyst...? Are you... able to hear me?"
"A-ah, put... put me down- stop... please..."
I began to head down.
I wasn't going to just let myself listen to Amethyst's nightmare if I could wake her up.
"G-gah- stop! Help me! P-Pearl!"
I flinched, then sped up my pace. Now I literally had every right to go help Amethyst.
After all, Amethyst called for my help, right?
I quickly ended up in Amethyst's room, and saw Amethyst not far from my waterfalls. She was, in fact, asleep, and I quickly rushed to help.
"P-Pearl- stop- please, help! Help-"
At that point I was shaking Amethyst awake. I was... a little scared, to be honest.
"G-geh- GAH!"
Amethyst woke.
Amethyst PoV
"A-Amethyst, are you okay?! I heard you calling for help- calling for me, for some reason."
It was a nightmare. That... was just in the past.
I was okay, and Pearl was the one who helped me escape that awful, awful dream.
"Y-yeah... yeah, I'm okay, Pearl. I just- I had a nightmare."
"What about?"
I winced and hesitated... but I also trust Pearl more than anyone else.
"It... was about the... the past... my past."
Pearl had tears in the corners of her eyes, but I'm not actually that surprised, to be honest.
Pearl, despite being so perfect in so many ways, can be kind of a crybaby.
Which is so strange, how someone can be so strong but so weak at the same time.
"Y-you mean... when those Homeworld soldiers came to... "clean up" the Kindergarten?"
Her face twisted with disgust as she said it, but to be fair, any other way of putting it might have been a bit too much for poor Pearl, so I didn't say anything.
I simply nodded, knowing what Pearl meant.
"Oh- Amethyst, you poor gem!"
She wrapped her arms around me and I blushed.
"I- Pearl..."
Tears formed in my eyes.
I hate watching Pearl cry.
A small, rebellious but actually reasonable thought popped into her head.
Pearl is broken like me. Cracked by Rose's death, thinking that she's worthless.
But maybe... maybe together...
We can heal.
