So this is the last chapter, guys. There is a sequel coming after this, maybe soon, maybe in a month, I'm still coming up with some ideas. So... see ya soon.
Connie PoV
Steven said he wanted to talk outside. I don't know why or what about, but he seemed strange about it. He also mentioned that he wanted to be alone with me, and...
...there was something off about him.
But I love him and if he needs to talk about something, then of all people, shouldn't I be the one to listen?
We walked outside.
"So what's up?" I asked, as he sat down on one of the stairs.
"I just... I know we're supposed to be all about changing, but... I feel like I can't handle all of it. It's like everything is changing except me. I want to change, but it's... hard."
Awww, poor Steven. He's trying so hard. I can get why it's hard for him, but I bet he's just not used to it.
I walked over and sat on the stair with him, patting his back to comfort him.
"It's okay. It makes sense that you'd feel that. You're a gem, so changing is hard... but you adapt to it pretty well. And I think that's your human side."
"What?" His expression was confused, like he didn't know what I was talking about.
"I just understand that it's hard for you. That's okay."
His voice was suddenly quiet.
"Are you going to leave me, too?"
I felt my heart crack. I felt bad, felt pain for him. That's what he was so worried about- everyone he loves leaving him.
"Ow," I muttered. When I said my heart cracked, I didn't think my chest would actually hurt.
He at first looked bad, then realized that I actually got hurt.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
"I-I don't know... after you told me that, I felt some weird pain in my chest- like something stabbed me, but with no wound. I don't think it was you by accident, by the way because I know you're thinking that right now."
He winced. "You... really know me well, huh?"
I chuckled. "Of course. I've known you for, like, 4 years. We've been dating for months, and before that we'd been the closest friends. I should think I know what you're thinking."
"Alright, fair point, fair point. What were we... oh yeah, that weird pain you felt."
"Right. We jut need t-"
I was cut off by another pain, sharper, in the same place. I doubled over in pain.
"Connie?! A-are you okay?!
"Ghhhhh- I-I think so...
He was worried now.
What's happening to me?
Then I felt another pain- hard.
Then the attacker came into view.
Me and Steven watched as a small, golden flower popped out of the ground.
"Hee hee hee. You think you can just go off and enjoy your 'happy ending'? Well, you're wrong! No matter how many times you reach for victory, reach for happiness..."
Steven stood in his anger. I mumbled "steven, wait," but he didn't hear me. His skin changed from his peachy skin to pink.
"...I'll be waiting, ready to tear it out of your reach." It swept up behind Steven in a blur and climbed onto his shoulder, roots digging into the ground so Steven couldn't move.
I tried to get up, tried to stop it, but I fell, my pain burning in my chest.
"N-no- Steven- stop it!" I cried.
The vines wrapped around something behind his back, then lifted his shirt, Steven writhing and powerless to stop him.
I managed to stand up and drew my sword. I pointed the sword at the flower.
"P-put him down. Now," I commanded. It cackled, making me squirm.
"I don't advise that, Connie." I flinched at it, and it smirked. "Oh, are you surprised that I know your name? Well, you've seen me before. I've been watching you, learning your names, your personal lives..."
"YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US! NOW LET STEVEN GO!" I charged, and before my attack, it placed Steven in the way.
I abruptly stopped, trying not to hit him.
It grinned, and in an instant I knew I couldn't do anything. I was powerless against this flower, who could do anything to Steven and I'd be powerless.
I failed him.
"Now let's see, what should we do with you...?"
It didn't hesitate to pull out the device behind its back. It clicked a button, and a rejuvenator came out.
It wrapped vines around my ankles, holding me back. I heard voices inside, worried voices, arguing whether to follow Steven's wishes or to see what was happening.
I wanted nothing more than to call for Pearl and Garnet for help.
The flower's vines reached down and wrapped around the rim of his gem, and he panicked.
"N-no- help! Pearl! Garnet! Amethr-" He was cut off by vines, wrapping around his mouth.
A moment later, the gems came out to the horrendous scene.
Amethyst gasped, recognizing the flower. Pearl's eyes widened.
They all summoned their weapons and started to attack.
"S-stop! It'll- the flower, it- Steven!"
It shoved his body into the way like Steven was a puppet. All three gem's eyes widened and they stopped their attacks in the way I had.
"Hee hee. Howdy, friends! I'm glad you could join us..."
He pulled on Steven's gem.
"...you're just in time for the main event!!"
Giggling like a madman, he ripped Steven's gem out violently, watched as his gem formed Pink Steven, and slammed the rejuvenator into his (her? it? i don't know what gender) and poofed him, as the gem reformed normally and landed on the ground.
He dropped Steven.
Okay so you know how Pearl said she was done with the past?
Well now her past's back to haunt her!
So that's the end of this fanfiction. Thanks so much for reading! I had a lot of fun writing this! I promise you the sequel will be out soon... Sometime.
