213 views, guys.
I'm literally a kid in 7th grade. How is that even possible?
213. Jesus...
Either you guys have nothing better to do, you can't find any better content, or I'm actually that good at writing crap.
Or all three, that too.
Anyways thanks for all the support, I honestly didn't expect any of it but it's a nice change of pace.
On with the story!!
Lapis PoV
I left Little Homeworld, as fun as the place may be, to take a small break.
I got tired. That's understandable.
I laid out on the grass, relaxing myself. The sun shined down, its rays of sunshine hitting my body and filling me with warmth.
I laid there, warm and happy, and thought about everything I had to do- everything the Crystal Gems had to do- to get here.
I thought first of the rebellion, fighting the Diamonds and Rose hiding Bismuth in Lion's mane and then Rose Quartz faking her own death.
Then my mind wandered to the Diamond's retaliation- their attack on Earth, supposedly shattering all the gems on Earth and wiping out all life.
Which failed, both to shatter all gems and wipe out all life, as here they all were, and the human race survived, and Rose and Garnet and Pearl and Bismuth and somehow Amethyst survived the attack and evaded corruption.
Then I thought about Steven and how he was born and all the heartbreak the gems had gone through for Rose at the expense of something great, something that they never would have assumed would be good in any way, but was.
Steven.
He did better than Rose did. He made peace with Bismuth, Spinel, Peridot, herself, and even the Diamonds.
And all the problems that Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl had- Garnet wanting to hold everything together and be the "biggest gem"? Steven helped. Amethyst feeling like she was first evil and then weak and defective? Steven helped with that, too. Pearl's... well, Pearl's everything, really- no problem for Steven.
And then came the sacrifices I made.
The first sacrifice being stuck in the mirror- it was awful, and I was trapped for so long...
But that was nothing compared to Jasper.
Being fused with her- being trapped with Jasper- had been the worst months I have ever spent in my entire life.
I then smiled, one of the biggest parts of my current and past life coming to mind.
The little green gem had seemed so intimidating on the ship- I had feared her.
And then Steven had the idea of having us live together in the barn- it seemed impossible.
It had saddened me that Steven had fallen for her tricks- or so I had thought.
Steven was so sure she had changed. And I hadn't even realized- I hadn't noticed the difference between the adorable little green gem and the cold, calculated gem I saw on the ship.
When it occured to me that Peridot truly had changed- that she was better- I felt awful.
I was scared and I acted on that fear... but it was no excuse for not giving Peridot a chance, at the very least.
Just then, I heard someone whispering behind me. It sounded a little like Steven and Peridot.
I tried to ignore the noise- I was just starting to fall asleep.
Then, a few seconds later, I felt a shaking hand tap my shoulder.
Confused, I turned my head around.
Peridot was there. She looked a little scared, and I noticed her trembling.
"Uh... hey Peri. What's wrong?"
"Well- I.. um... h-have something I need to tell you."
"Um. Ok? Whaaaaaat's up?" I asked, concerned and a little skeptical.
"I-I..." She seemed at a loss of words.
I waited, curious and worried.
"I l-love you, Lapis," she managed to say.
My eyes widened and tears crept into the corners of my eyes.
Peridot looked terrified about how I was going to respond.
I quietly stood up and hugged her.
"I-I love you too, Peri."
With impeccable timing, Connie and Bismuth showed up.
"Hey guys. Amethyst told me about what happened at Steven's place and what Steven was up to and I decided to find Bismuth and join. Y'know, for funsies."
Bismuth chuckled as a dark blue blush swept across my face and I could feel Peri heating up as well.
"It looks like it went well, too. I wonder what Peridot did ta win you over, Lazuli. You seem like the kinda cut that'd be more into edgy people or somethin'."
I snorted and laughed. "I would be, but Peridot's the only thing I could work with," I said jokingly.
Peridot laughed too. "I was afraid you'd gotten tired of me because I'm so much!"
We all laughed.
Then, just when everything was seemingly perfect, disaster struck.
Without any warning (although why would you warn someone you're about to attack?) a creamy orange ball, illuminated with orange flame, shot towards Steven at high speeds.
He quickly summoned his shield and blocked the assault just in time, but that wasn't all that was attacking.
An orange sword, unfamiliar to me, shot towards me and as fast as possible I ducked, the sword hurtling towards Bismuth, who slammed her shapeshifted hand into it, knocking it off course.
A bolt of greenish energy hurtled towards us, this time missing me and Peri and almost hitting Connie right in the face as she shrieked-
And then, on cue, her savior blocked the energy blast with a large hand.
Garnet had appeared, holding her hand out to block the blast with her gauntlet.
"Hey, thanks Garnet! I thought I was done for!"
"I know. But now isn't the time for gratitude. Lapis, look out!"
Instantly I whipped around, releasing Peridot from my protective grip, and prepared for an attack in my direction.
To my surprise, there were two attackers, and they seemed very familiar.
Neither hesitated to attack me, but awestruck, I
hesitated to defend.
"Lapis, MOVE!" Garnet shouted fiercely.
Just in time I avoided the water fists out to destroy me.
"I-I'll call Amethyst- she's with Pearl, they can come and help!"
"Well do that fast so we don't die before they can show up!!" Peridot shouted at him, panicking.
"O-ok ok, I will!"
He pulled back and called Amethyst.
All they could hope for now was her and Pearl's assistance and to survive this ambush.
