13. Snowed In (part 2: the second)

Real quick, I watched SUF episodes (1-10) so I might throw in a reference. Just a little spoiler warning. Thanks!

Steven PoV

I fixed Connie up a bowl of cereal and continued eating my own. She smiled gratefully at me and gave me a small peck on the cheek as a "thank you."

I grinned at her.

Suddenly, she seemed distracted by something, staring out the blocked up window and extremely hard at a patch of snow, for some reason.

"...Connie? Is, uh... everything ok?"

She jumped, then shook herself out. 

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was zoned out for a second. Sorry."

She proceeded to eat her cereal as a way of saying "see? perfectly fine," but Steven knew better. 

"Are you sure? You were staring extremely hard at a particular patch of snow. It seemed... unusual, to say the least."

"Zoned out," she said again. "Sorry."

"It's fine, no worries! I was just a bit confused, that's all!"

I could tell that wasn't it, but I didn't say anything more to that, since pushing her isn't very nice. 

If she doesn't wanna tell me, then she doesn't have to.

"Hey guys, ya wanna have some fun?"

Amethyst's suggestion piqued my interest. I wasn't sure what she meant, but I was interested nonetheless.

She went upstairs, grabbed a few things (there was clatter and I thought I saw Pearl grimace in assumption of the mess) and came back down. She was holding a couple of armfuls, and I didn't know exactly what was about to happen until she laid it all out.

She had pretty much grabbed a TV that I figured was from my room, my new Nintendo Switch (I used to have a GameCube, but it's been in storage for a while) and a game box.

Inside was SSBU. (Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, and yes, this is a gaming chapter, this is 2019 almost 2020 lol)

I hadn't played Smash in about two years. The Switch my dad got me had come with Smash, but I had barely touched the Switch itself, so the game had remained untouched until now.

Amethyst was quick to boot up the system, and Peridot quickly woke up, hearing the sound of the Switch. Lapis looked not only amused, but knowing what was about to happen and completely ready to play.

Only then did I remember that Peridot and Lapis had one too, because Peridot loved video games.

And their Switch came with Smash, so guess who was probably going to win other than Garnet because future vision?

Amethyst didn't set up a normal, casual Smash, but rather, a tourney.

Then she turned on the controllers, passed one to me, Connie, Garnet, Pearl, Bismuth, Peridot, Lapis and herself (perfect amount of players), plopped down next to Pearl, and went to the character selection screen.

*fun fact, i used my switch to decide who wins so its skill or random. Ima be my birthstone, Amethyst of course. Am chose Kirb boi, Steven chose Lank, Pearl chose Sheek, Garnet chose Falcoo, Connie chose Luciana, Peridorito chose Mewthesecond, Lappy chose Grey Ninga, and Bis chose Ridmeley (i mispelled for fun, plz dont kill me)*

The matches were set- Amethyst versus Lapis, then me versus Garnet, Peridot versus Bismuth, and Connie versus Pearl.

The first match started.

Amethyst won by a long shot, surprisingly. (but really not because I'm a pro at SSBU)

The highlights are that Amethyst didn't get hit for the first part, things started to go downhill for her, but the head start was all she really needed.

Next up was me.

Garnet first lowered my HP, nearly rushed my off the stage, and then shot me into the air for her final blow. 

In other words, I lost.

Next up was Bismuth versus Peridot.

Peridot smoked her, keeping it blunt.

Then Connie went up against Pearl.

Pearl didn't last too long.

They both had kind of hesitated at first, but Connie quickly oriented herself to the controls (much faster than Pearl did) and smoked her.

Then Amethyst went up against Garnet. Another tough match-up.

Surprising me again, Amethyst barely took damage dealing with Garnet- less than with Lapis.

Connie went up against Peridot, and this was actually a tight match.

Despite Peridot's skill level over Connie, Connie put up a harsh fight, and they both stayed around the same amount of damage, despite that number rising.

It was close, but Peridot won with 97% damage on Mewtwo.

Then the face off between Amethyst and Peridot went off.

Peridot landed the first hits, but that didn't matter much.

Amethyst won easily.

We all said good game and I was pretty happy.

I was spending time with my family, and what could possibly be better than that?

Okay so firstly I have a new laptop that works way better so that's cool.

Secondly I didn't know I was boss with Kirb boi, I thought I was better with Lucarioo, Lank, and Pixelmon Torturer. But I guess Kirbu is pretty good for me.
