The rest of the day went through a fog, the phone call replaying in my mind. I couldn’t believe that I had actually revealed the truth, the truth that was pulling the band apart. Liberty was concerned about me, but the only thing I was concerned about was Ella, I had to make sure she was ok. But Lib wouldn’t let me go see her until I promised her I was ok. I, of course, wasn’t, but to reveal that to her was going to take a hell of a lot of energy, which I didn’t have.
“Liberty! Please. I have to go see her. She could be dead for all I know!” She just shook her head from across the table. “I can’t do that Anastasia, it’s only going to hurt you even more.” I smiled a little at her comment, grateful that she cared. I let the smile drop off of my face, forcing myself to tear up. “Liberty..Please. I have to see her.” She just shook her head, smiling wickedly. “Don’t pull that on me. Anastasia, I’ve known you for 15 years. I know when you’re faking it.” I groaned slightly. “Come on…Please?” I saw her eyes soften slightly, and I smiled brightly. “So you’ll let me go?!” She nodded slightly before putting a finger up. “Only if I get to go with you.”
I sighed, nodded. “Fine…But only make yourself heard if I do something stupid…which I probably will.”
She shrugged, handing me my car keys. “Just try to keep yourself together, darling. I think we’ve all seen enough horror today.”
I rolled my eyes, making my way to the garage. “Come on Lib…I’ve got to go.”
She nodded, getting into my car as we rushed to the hospital.
I walked up to the receptionist, who was tall and blonde. “Hello. I’m Ana Cole. My best friend, Ellana Carter is here.”
She looked up at me, shaking her head.”I’m sorry. We can’t allow visitors into her room right now.”
Cursing quietly, I looked around. “Well can I at least know how she is?”
She nodded toward the waiting area. “A doctor will be with you soon.”
I went over and sat down next to Liberty, sucking in a deep breath. ”They won’t let me see her right now.”
She frowned softly, taking my hand. “It’s going to be ok.”
I looked up as a doctor approached us. “Ana Cole?”
I nodded and stood up. “Is Ella alright?”
He nodded, shaking my hand. “I’m Dr. Depsey. Ellana is alright, but she’s beat up. She got a concussion and her face is a bit cut up. The other girl in the car wasn’t so lucky…Her right arm was badly mangled in the crash, we were forced to amputate it.”
I fell back against the wall, shock running through my body. Jewel was the other girl in the car…Oh god.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I opened my eyes. Liberty’s eyes were misty, like she was about to cry. “I’m so sorry Anastasia…”
I shrugged her hand off my shoulder, tears falling from my eyes. “I have to Ella…Please.” I looked up at the doctor, my blue eyes begging. “please.”
He looked down at his clipboard, sighing softly. “You have ten minutes. Right this way.”
I followed quickly behind him, only glancing over my shoulder to see Liberty sitting back down.
He led me to a room down a hallway, knocking on the door. “Miss Carter? You have a visitor.”
I pushed past the doctor, going to the chair that was beside her bed. Her head was wrapped in a bandage, and her wrist was wrapped.
“Ella…Babe.” I sat down, taking her hand gently in mine. She looked at me, a smile forming on her face.
“Hi Ana. Stop worrying…It makes you look unattractive.”
I relaxed my face, looking at her, a laugh escaping my lips. “Stop being in the hospital, it makes me worry.”
She shrugged, her face going glum. “How’s Jewel?”
I shook my head, squeesing her hand lightly. “S-She lost her arm El. Completely gone.”
She gasped, pulling her hand away from me. “T-this is all my fault! I shouldn’t have called her! I should have just-“
“Ella stop. It was none of our fault. It just happened. Things like this just happen.”
She looked up at me, her brown eyes full of tears. “A-Are you sure.”
I smiled and nodded. “I’m positive babe. I promise it wasn’t your fault. If it was anyone’s fault, it was mine. Because I was the one who yelled at you.”
She nodded, but then shook her head. “You know it isn’t your fault. Poor Jewel..”
I nodded, looking down at our interlocked fingers. “She’s going to be so upset.”
Ella gasped, snapping her head up. “What about the band?! Jewel can’t play drums anymore!”
I bit my lip, shrugging. “Let’s figure that out once she heals…Ok?”
Ella nodded, laying her head back. “I’m really tired…If you don’t mind, I’m gonna get some sleep.”
Nodding, I stood up. “I’ll leave you be. Just text me if you need anything.” I paused. “I love you.”
She looked up at me, smiling.”I love you too. And I will.”
Kissing her forehead, I walked out of her room, closing the door behind me.
“I’m ready to go.” I said to Liberty, heading out the hospital doors.
