Left 4 Dead 2: Apartments (part 1/4)

Mario: WHERE ARE WE?!?

It was the first thing I heard when I opened my eyes and realized that I was in the wrong place. I woke up on top of a tall building, laying down next to Meggy, my arms wrapped around her neck. I let go of her and stood up, stretching in the early sunrise. I bent down to pick up my hat and realized it was me, Mario, Meggy, and Luigi on the rooftop. I put my hat on and stared at Mario, who was running around like an idiot. I walked up to him and slapped him across the face.

Mario: Thanks. Where are we?

Me: No clue. What even happened?

Mario: Don't know.

I walked over to the rooftop exit, but stopped. I turned back to the rest of the group, a worried look in my eyes. Meggy and Luigi had woken up a short time after me.

Me: I think I know where we are.

Meggy: Where?

Me: Dead Center.

Mario: Where?

Me: It's... how would I describe it? You guys know Left 4 Dead 2?

Luigi: Nope.

Mario: Sorry. I don't know.

Meggy: That one zombie game? I've heard about it, but never played it.

Me: I played it all the time when I was younger. The Dead Center campaign was the first one I finished. Took me almost an hour, but I beat it.

Meggy: So... you're telling us that we're INSIDE of a video game?

Me: I never said that.

Mario: So... We're in real life?

Me: Never said that either.

Mario: What do you mean?

Me: Well... we're INSIDE of Left 4 Dead 2 in the Dead Center campaign level, just not really. We're NOT in real life, but we're NOT in a video game.

Meggy: Don't tell me this is Virtual Reality.

Me: It's not. All we have to do is make it to the evacuation center at the mall, and we're home free.

A helicopter passed by us.

Me: Don't bother signaling it. It never helps.   Besides, it's headed towards the mall, where the evacuation center is. Now then, grab a weapon off the table. Make sure the medical packs, too.

We all grabbed med packs. The rest of the group grabbed dual-wield handguns, while I grabbed the fire axe.

Mario: An ax? Really.

Me: If I remember the game, melee weapons are one-shots on infected.

Meggy: Take whatever floats your boat.

I opened the door leading to the staircase. We walked down two flights and stopped at a door. Right next to it was a makeshift grenade that I gladly picked up.

Mario: Uhh...

Me: Don't ask.

Luigi: What now?

Me: When I open this, I'm going to be on the front lines. Watch. Your. Fire. Or else.

Mario: Mario's gonna kill some beaches.

Me: Mom, help us.

I opened the door and instantly ran up to and decapitated three infected with one swipe of my axe. The bullets of the other three passed by me, hitting more infected.
