Months had passed since Perri had found the dragon egg in the woods, Perri named the dragon Saphira in honour of her eyes which sparkled like bright sapphires, whilst staying in Rivendell Perri met an old man called Brom who was once a dragon rider himself. Brom taught Perri the ways of dragon rider and now that Saphira was all grown up Brom took Perri and Saphira to a remote Ravine so that Perri could learn to ride Saphira, just as they were about to leave Mitchell walked over to Perri and said 'Just take care of yourself Pel, your my best friend' Perri smiled and hugged Mitchell before saying 'I'll be fine Mitchell'.
Perri climbed onto his horse and followed Brom towards the bridge Tauriel ran over and said 'Perri promise me you'll come back safely' Perri smiled and said 'I'll be home before you know it I promise. I love you Tauriel'.
Brom turned around and said 'Come on Perri, we have a full days ride ahead of us. Tell Saphira to fly above us and keep an eye out for the destroyers forces if they find us they'll kill us', Perri turned to Saphira and said 'Fly above us Saphira but be careful' Saphira closed her eyes and said 'You be careful young one'. Perri and Brom rode over the border away from Rivendell until they reached a ravine Brom climbed down from his horse and said 'Your magic is getting more powerful Perri, magic comes from dragons it flows from the riders who command them. Saphira will feel your fear as her own but your bond with her is strong'.

Perri looked up at Saphira as Brom said 'Your magic must be your last resort, before you cast the spell you must learn ancient language of the elves', Perri took a deep breath and said 'Brisinger' Brom nodded and replied 'Brisinger means fire is fire, the thing is the word know the word and you can control the thing. Before you cast the spell you must have the physical strength to withstand it's effects'. Perri sat down near Saphira and said 'What could happen if I did use them before I was ready' Brom sat down opposite Perri and said 'Some spells could leave you weakened, others can leave you unconscious and some if you use them before your ready can kill you. I can teach you the words but the limits of your strength must come from you'.

Perri turned around and said 'What's the word for tree then' Brom smiled and said 'Tree is Traevam. And when a dragon and rider are truly one and they see as one then that's Skullblakas-Ven, well since we've announced ourselves so spectacularly to the world we'll have to find another way through these hills I think it's time you started flying'.
Saphira looked over at Perri and said 'Are you ready to take to the sky dragon rider' Perri nodded and climbed onto Saphira's back and held onto the handle on the saddle as Saphira walked forwards towards the edge of the cliff Perri smiled and said 'Nah it's not so bad up here'. Once right on the edge Perri was finally able to see how high up they really were Saphira connected with Perri and said 'No it's not so bad at all', Saphira let out a loud roar as she leapt off the cliff and sped down into the Ravine below.
Meanwhile in Rivendell reports had reached Lord Elrond of a Elven convoy under attack on the great plains, Ashley and the other protectors volunteered to go and help the convoy and escort it back to the safety of Rivendell. As the protectors approached the great plains they saw a wagon ablaze and a couple of dead bodies, Warren jumped down from his horse and said 'We're too late' Sam's horse started getting agitated Mitchell turned around and said 'Sam what's wrong' Sam looked around and said 'I don't know', suddenly there was several strikes of green lightening and all the horse reared up unseating their riders.
Ashley looked up and saw the destroyer walking towards them and before they knew it Ashley and the others were surrounded by the destroyers forces, the destroyer walked forwards and said 'You all really are thorns in my side, my master Gallbotorix wants a word with you all'. With a swift flick of his wrists Ashley and the others vanished into a puff of smoke, meanwhile Perri had finally gotten used to flying on a dragon he and Saphira were nearing the great plains Perri sensed that Saphira could see something he leaned forward and said 'What's wrong Saphira'.

Saphira turned her head slightly and said 'I can sense that dark magic was used around here' Perri nodded and said 'Take us down Saphira, I want to look around'. Saphira gently landed on the great plains Perri climbed down and walked over to the burnt wagon, and that was when he spotted the protector necklaces on the floor, Brom eventually caught up with Saphira and Perri he jumped down from his horse and said 'I told you to stay close'.
Perri looked up through tear filled eyes and said 'I'm sorry Brom, but my friends the destroyer has my friends'. Brom looked at the necklaces and said 'Perri I need you to remain calm, I can help you get your friends back Perri'. Ashley and the others were bound in heavy Iron chains and lead through the dark damp corridors of Gallbotorix's kingdom, eventually they came into a throne room Gallbotorix looked up and said 'Too their knee's' with a flick of his wrist the destroyer obeyed his master and bought Ashley and the others to their knee's, Gallbotorix stood up and walked down the steps towards the Prisoners.
Gallbotorix turned to the Destroyer and said 'Your task was simple bring the protectors to me I said' the Destroyer bowed his head slightly and said 'The boy wasn't with them my lord'. Gallbotorix swiped his long fingernails across the destroyers face leaving angry red scratches across his cheek, he then smiled sinisterly before saying 'Fortunately for you your incompetence may work in my favour, his friends can tell us exactly where he is', Mitchell stood up and spat at Gallbotorix before saying 'What the hell makes you think that I or my friends will tell you anything' Gallbotorix grabbed Mitchell by his hair and said 'Big roar from a little lion, we'll see how brave you are when your in a considerable amount of pain'.
