As Violet and Eva boarded the 8 PM train, they didn't know that another group had been watching them from the locked cargo hold.

These men conversed in conspiracies against the throne.

"The Doll's on the train, guys," spoke an ominous voice as he peeked through the tiny slit.

"Heard she's going to be assisting the Prince. Is that true?" voiced another.

"Yeah, if that brat passes the three weeks with good grades, he'll be a shoe-in for the throne!" a woman voice said.

"The King's dying. No wonder the brat's getting a lister so soon. He's going be taking his old man's job! We can't let another Arnwood on the throne. I'm sure our boss will do way better than that kid anyway."

"Definitely!"

"Yup."

"Agreed."

"So, what do we do, A.J.?"

"We have to make sure the Prince's listing test is delayed. That Doll ain't making it to Crestfallen!"

10:50 PM, on the train to Crestfallen...

Violet sat in the window seat of the train and Eva sat right next to her, fast asleep. The foldable table that each passenger has was set out in front of her. On this table, she had her typewriter. Her gloves were off showing her shiny metal hands. She typed and typed. Here are the things she was writing on the way...

[From the Log of Violet Evergarden: #45]

[I sit in the D Central train with Eva by my side on my way to the castle. I do not know what awaits me when I get there, but I remain hopeful that my task shall be a success. It's reassuring to know that Eva decided last-minute to come with me. She was just supposed to drop me off at the station, but then she changed her mind and decided to come. Now, I have a guide through this kingdom. She said she had a second shop in the town of Shellhaven nearby the castle. In that shop, a change of clothes, toiletries, and other essentials would be available to her. She only brought her book bag. What is a book bag? Well, she calls herself a travelling book merchant too. Therefore, she needs a travel bag to carry a few books to sell when she's on the move from one shop to the next. How she manages to handle two shops and sell stuff on the move impresses me. She really is dedicated to the life of books. I'm glad to have her as my companion. She told me she also has "some" defence skills from her sensei although I haven't seen them in action yet. Eva refuses to tell me any details of her past. Well, can I blame her? I have quite the shady past myself. In a way, I understand personally why she would withhold personal info from me. I find her mysterious, but I hope she'll tell me a little bit about herself in the coming weeks.]

Violet put her hand on her chin and gave her next words a bit of thought. Out of the corner of her eye, Eva remained in a state of peaceful slumber. Violet watched city after town then town again then city again pass by. Crestfall was a big place. Electric poles kept on going on and on following them on their route.
