They ignored the stares they received, and lived their lives like everyone else did. As the wedding day grew closer, Ivan could notice something when he looked at Alfred.
"I don't see it..." "Don't see what?"
"That... Glow in your eyes..."
"Oh. Well yeah. I didn't not expect that." Alfred looked in the mirror and saw how his eyes became more and more dull with each passing day.
"It's fine..." he jumped when he felt the vibration of his phone on silent going off.
"S-Sorry! Hold on." he went into the nearest next room and was taken aback at the amount of noise on the other end.
"Uh..."
"Sorry about that. Hey America!"
"Hey..." he recognized Canada's voice and became a little nervous.
"Um. So where are you?"
"I'm uh..." not knowing how to answer, he didn't. Although the fear of having to confess everything became stronger by the seconds.
"Tell me now!!"
"Stop yelling." Canada said as England's voice was heard from background and Alfred shook his head.
"He's still like that...? Whatever, I'm away on business."
"I'm not falling for that!!"
"Jesus Christ... Alright, I'll just say it. England wanted me to call you cause he thought you ran away with Russia."
"Oh. I just..."
"Tell him something. He's been driving me insane for the last hour."
It was a mix of stuttering and poorly formed sentences until Alfred gave up.
"Will you hate me if I told you."
"Of course not! Please, I want to know too... Especially after you explained what happened to you last time you disappeared."
"This is a long story so bare with me... Me and Ivan are together. I've loved him for a very long time, and he felt the same when I told to him. I found out the reason Belarus kidnapped me was because she wanted to persuade him to marry her." both ends were silent, England saying something faintly every now and then.
"See I told you, he-"
"England shut up."
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything before, I-"
"No, don't apologize. I just... Can't believe she..." he trailed off, audibly crying until he seemed to catch his breath.
"Continue..."
"Okay... I wanted him to stay with me, but once we figured out that wasn't going to work... I followed him home. We both know nothing can be done, but I still wanted to stay together as long as possible." Alfred's voice cracked and his entire tone changed from calm and almost professional, into sounding like someone died right in front of him.
"It breaks my heart... I love him so much, but I can't do anything! No, there has to be, right?! What can I do?!" after going off into a series of sobs, England took the phone from Canada and had his turn to talk.
"It's best to get over it. You're an adult. In fact, if he really loved you... He would've battled for you, not make some agreement to where it doesn't even matter since he won't be able to see you."
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
"Yeah I'm wondering the same thing..." Canada took the phone back, but Alfred simply said he had to go and hung up. He remained shocked by how harsh and unreasonable his former caregiver was being.
"That's kinda strange..."
"Why are two men doing that?"
"Maybe the blond one's actually a woman..?"
"Freaks..."
They were in another language, but Alfred knew full well what they meant. Most people tried not to say anything as they walked by, but some muttered something under their breaths. Ivan tightened his grip on Alfred's hand as they walked on the sidewalk.
"I feel like we haven't... You know, had as much time together."
"A thousand years wouldn't have been enough." there was only a week left till the wedding, and Alfred's nearly grey eyes ran dry after he cried out all the tears he had.
"I'll miss you..." was all he muttered out in response. To which Ivan replied with the same thing, being the only thing he knew how to say.

"What is HE doing here?" Belarus cringed at the sight of Ivan and Alfred holding hands, not even trying to hide it. She wore a long and lacy white dress with jewelry covering her neck. Her hair was done in a way that must've taken hours to perfect, and seemed to held together with a golden crown. Despite her beautiful looks, it couldn't cover up the ugly mentality and behavior towards her own brother.
"He's here because I love him. Why can't you let me be happy, sister?"
"Ugh... You can be happy with me. Sorry America, you'll have to leave. Besides, I need to get Russia fitted for new clothes like I did."
"I know." Alfred gave Ivan a sweet and short kiss as a goodbye, causing Belarus to pull Ivan away. He mouthed out a fast "I love you" before the door shut.

Annoyed that Ivan waited only a day in advanced to come, Belarus went about the process of getting him proper clothing and scolding him for cutting it close.
"And just so you know. It was obvious before he kissed you."
"I really don't care." Ivan responded, gazing out the window sadly. Belarus came up behind him and kissed his neck, then looking displeased.
"You probably had sex with him... Didn't you?"
"Yes... I did." Ivan decided it wasn't worth lying about.
"Ah... Well. You're first time was with me at least."
"We were children. And I didn't want it!" to that, Belarus sighed.
"You're right. It was wrong of me to push you."
"You clearly didn't feel sorry when you did it to Alfred." there was an awkward silence for a moment.
"He wasn't you." it was an unreasonable answer. But an expected one.
