Ninjago city had been peaceful for many years. After the defeat of a certain villain no other evil mastermind decided to show itself in the city. The ninja had seen this as a blessing, the previous villain they had fought had exposed their dark secrets, forcing the team to distrust each other.
None of them had contact with each other anymore.None of them wanted to become a team again.
And luckily, no villain forced them to do so.Lloyd who now lived alone with his adopted son, had discovered some strange activity occurring amongst the city streets. Really strange. There were teenagers disappearing and apparently when they were found again, all of them were acting almost completely different. Something definitely wasn't right. If it were only one person it wouldn't have been so suspicious, but the fact that it was happening to multiple teenagers meant that something was wrong. Lloyd knew it wasn't just some weird kidnapper.
It was something a lot worse than that.
Lloyd thought long and hard about the situation.
There was no way he would be able to get the team to trust him again, their bonds had been broken years ago.
Therefore, he had only one option left, and he hoped that he wouldn't regret this decision.
Lloyd inhaled deeply, attempting to calm his nerves before he hesitantly knocked on the door to his son's bedroom.
The door opened shortly afterwards revealing the curious eye of his son.
"Is there something you need Dad?" He asked.
"Joshua, there's something important I need to discuss with you..."
"Oh okay, what is it?"
Lloyd could hear the concern in Joshua's voice, even though they weren't related by blood they still cared for each other deeply. Lloyd convinced himself to continue the discussion, he was too far to back out now.
"I think it's time."
Joshua hesitated, he knew exactly what those words meant. But Josh was more than just shocked, he was confused.
"It can't be! Dad I'm nowhere near ready to wear the green gi! I barely just learnt how to control my elemental powers! I can't even do spinjitzu! I'm not ready...""I didn't know spinjitzu when I became the Green Ninja, I didn't even know how to control my powers. You've had more practice and training than I did. I think you're ready."
Lloyd handed Joshua the neatly folded ninja gi, Josh only uneasily stared at it, continuing to doubt himself. Without a word, Josh hesitantly took the gi from Lloyd's hands.
"You can do this Josh. I know you can."
"But... there hasn't been any attacks on Ninjago for years... I might not ever get the chance to wear the gi...""Josh... look, I have a feeling that Ninjago will need a Ninja team very soon. So don't worry, alright?"
"If Ninjago will be needing a ninja team, then shouldn't you and the other ninja do it? I don't have a team... it's just me..."
"Joshua, you need to stop doubting yourself. I know you're fully capable of being the next Green Ninja, and if you don't have a ninja team, shouldn't you go and make one instead of pushing the responsibility onto someone else?"
Josh didn't reply, he obviously was thinking over what his father had just told him.
"You're right... but I just don't feel like I'm ready for such a huge responsibility..."
"You are ready Josh. I know it."
Joshua wrapped his arms around Lloyd, hugging him tightly. Lloyd was a little shocked by the sudden gesture, but returned the loving hug.
"Alright kiddo, go and try on the suit."
"Okay!"

A young girl runs through the night streets of Ninjago city, pushing past other pedestrians to get to her desired destination, she quickly takes a turn into an alleyway, pushing open a door that sat at the bottom of an apartment building. It was originally a storage room, but the girl had turned it into her temporary home.
She quickly cleared away the dusty boxes and shelving that were pushed up against the concrete wall, giving her a clear wall space to work with. Her eyes closed and she lifted her arms towards the blank wall in front of her, mumbling words from memory.
A flash of a purple light caused the girl to reopen her eyes and lower her hands, the flash of light drew a circle on the wall which transformed into a familiar portal. The girl crossed her arms, awaiting the arrival of what she had summoned.
The summoned dark spirit crossed the border between realms, confronting the young girl who had allowed it to cross over.
"You are taking a large risk, young princess. If the Queen were to find out-" It spoke, it's voice as demonic as the realm it came from.
"My mother will not find out. Now remember your mission, we must possess more of the humans. The more humans we possess the easier it will be to find him. Now go." The girl replied.
"Actually, Princess I believe the other demons and I have discovered a simpler way to find your Prince."
"Fine then, what do you propose?"
"You are familiar with the ritual of bonds, are you not?"
"Yes I am familiar with it, that ritual is forbidden because it requires the lives of certain humans."
"But that ritual is only forbidden in our realm. Therefore, you can easily use it to hunt him down. We already have possessed enough humans, all they have to do is find the ones needed for this ritual and the Prince shall be yours."
The girl remained silent, thinking over what the demon had suggested to her."The ritual also requires ancient artifacts created by the First Spinjitzu master. I want the demons possessing the humans to search for those artifacts first, I'll find the humans that are required and once we have all the artifacts, we'll strike them. Do you understand?" She stated.
"Yes of course Princess, your wish is my command. I will inform the other demons."
