CHAPTER 8 - WORSE AND WORSE

It had almost been a full day since Prince Dhayal told Rhys and Harmony the truth about Lillie. Harmony didn't know her that well so the news didn't hit her as hard as it did for Rhys, who had barely spoken a word since.

"Is he okay..?" Daniel asked his sister, he too noticed how quiet and gloomy Rhys was.

"I don't think so... uh one of his friends... turned out to be.. Using him..."

"Friend? Wow.. Rhys never trusts anyone..."

"Yeah I know... but now I don't think he'll ever trust anyone again...."

"Uh what did his friend look like..?"

"She had short blonde hair and silver ish eyes... why?" Harmony questioned.

"N-no reason.."

Daniel felt a small wave of relief wash over him, at first he was scared that Rhys' friend may have been one of the people that appeared in his nightmares. Luckily, he didn't remember anyone with the appearance that Harmony described. He felt his hand begin to shake as his mind wandered and he continued to think about the nightmare.

"I-I'm gonna go play some video games.."

Harmony watched with worry in her expression as Daniel left the room. She was worried for both her cousin and her brother and she wasn't so sure how to handle it. After seeing Rhys once more with a blank expression as if he were in shock, she decided that if she couldn't help Daniel maybe she could try to help Rhys.

"Hey, uh.. How are you doing..?" She asked him as she sat down on the couch next to him.

Rhys didn't respond, it was almost if he didn't notice her.

"I understand that you're probably upset about... y'know.. What happened... but I'm sure that-" Mid sentence, Harmony placed her hand on Rhys' shoulder in a comforting gesture.

Rhys jumped in reply, he was so deep in thought that he actually hadn't noticed that Harmony had sat down next to him or even started talking to him.

"Oh uh sorry I didn't mean to scare you..."

"No no.. it's fine.." Rhys rested his head in his hand, "Just... Can you leave me alone for a while?"

"Rhys I just want to help you.."

"You can't!" Rhys abruptly exclaimed, "I-I mean... how are you supposed to help me when I can't even figure out why the hell I feel like this..."

"Feel like.. What?"

"I literally just said you can't help me. So don't bother."

"How do you know that I can't help you?"

"Well maybe I don't want your help! I don't need you to solve my problems for me! I can do it myself!"

"I'm not going to solve your problems for you! I just want to help you solve your own problems..."

"I don't want your help! Just leave me alone!" Rhys got up from the couch and retreated to the guest room he had been staying in.

He paced around the room for a while, trying to calm himself down. He knew that he should let someone help him, but he was also afraid of judgement and didn't trust anyone besides his parents. Because of that, Rhys sat down on the bed and pulled out his phone, hesitantly dialling the number that belonged to his Mom.

"Hey Mom... can we talk..?"

Harmony still sat on the couch, shocked by Rhys' abrupt exit and frustrated with herself for not being able to help him. She never felt so helpless before, both her cousin and her brother refused to talk to her about their feelings, both of them didn't want her help. She yelled in frustration, why wouldn't anyone just talk to her? Why did her family have to be so stubborn??
